Talking about the story and what Disney puts out as credits. Isn't it strange that Rian Johnson does the story for the next two, but has nothing to do with TFA? Don't you need one guy to oversee the story arch and consistency? I mean, you also have the other 3 movies and I doubt they will quit at 6 movies total if it is still profitable.

I see though that Lawrence Kasdan is credited in TFA. He helped GJ as a screenwriter for the OT.

Apart from these being true or not (one can only speculate) would a link to the past make the new trilogy better for you or do you hope it doesn't go further than some old characters making an appearance? Personally I would like the Darth Plagueis Snoke thing to be true but I think Disney doesn't want to fuck with the taint of the PT umfortunately..

I didn't like TFA because the story wasn't original

I could've done just as good a job directing TFA, with some whiteout and a sharpie. The director didn't do anything to deserve a paycheck.
