The geek inside me is excited. The movie lover in me much less so, even though it might mean Lucas will be controlled a bit more this time.
That being said, just make Spielberg direct it please, he's the reason episode 3 was watchable.

Well, a lot of irrational hate does get thrown at Lucas. Now, I think he's a brilliant mind, I mean, to put it in simple terms, the guy created Star Wars in his head. He can create a universe and tell a story, but only in a broad sense. He is not a good screenwriter. Now, I do think that he should have a significant say in the next trilogy, but not a final say like he did with the prequels (random tangent, but I did enjoy episode III. I also have come to enjoy episode I. II left a sour taste in my mouth I cannot get rid of.) Back on topic, as a gigantic star wars fan, I'm incredibly excited already to hear some new media is gonna be produced. I'm holding out that's it's gonna be based in the old republic setting, where they have a much cleaner slate to work with, instead of something like the Thrawn trilogy or the Kotor story, where we already know what happens, and we don't have an opportunity for a megatwist like Darth Vader being Luke's father.

They should either make it based on the Thrawn trilogy or the Dark Empire series in my opinion:

Disney... I hope #7 isn't kid focused or dumbed down like I feel 1-3 were to an extent, if they can remain true to the original trilogy (since this is after it) then I will be happy.

A movie about Revan would be amazing. Or thrawn. Once you get too far after the events of the current movies though things get a little crazy with the yuuzhan, abeloth, etc.
