Not sure how to react... I don't know whether we actually need another Star Wars movie. We're not just talking about a product or a franchise here, we're talking about Art. To me, Star Wars = George Lucas. It's like a Mario game made without the involvement of Myamoto, it just doesn't feel right. Maybe you can sing like MJ, and maybe you can dance like him, but at the end of the day you're not really him...

Anyway in the previous movies we had mass murders, as well as people getting their head / hand cut off; what do you think will be the rating of episode 7?

Come to think of it, a trilogy focusing on Revan would be amazing too. Revan is most likely the wisest and most powerful Force user in the history of SW. Yes Sidious was possibly stronger than him, but all the teachings that Bane used to create the Rule of Two which eventually led to Darth Sidious, was taken from Revan's own teachings. Not only he was a great Jedi, he also was an equally great Sith Lord. Best of both worlds.

And it wouldn't happen 99%, but if they ever shoot the book Traitor as a movie, or at least some parts of it, fuck even as a small summary type movie of it...

I would die as a happy man right there. Traitor is the best EU book ever written imo. As a trilogy, Thrawn would be great for movies. But as a single book, Traitor was amazing.

OR do the first thrawn trilogy or maybe the Xwing books.

The starwars universe is huge, so i welcome another trilogy with completely different characters. I just hope they don't bring back any of the old and ruin them.

Im voting for a bounty hunter/smuggler movie as someone else here suggested. Leave out all that jedi stuff from this one.

This is a good thing I hope. Lucas ruined the prequel trilogy and the LucasArts properties were stagnating. Disney has handled Marvel and Pixar pretty well by most accounts.

In all seriousness, as long as Lucas is nowhere near it, episode 7 might actually be good. I haven't read the other books myself but I've heard lots of good things about them (which Lucas had nothing to do with). Additionally, does anyone remember the Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon series that ran on cartoon network for a while? It was totally awesome, and again, Lucas had nothing to do with it.

I'm speechless. This could be a complete disaster or very good news. The Thrawn saga was a very nice read in the books - perhaps they could make it work on screen.

Honestly, I see no reason to be sad or pessimistic about this deal. Lets remember that LUCASFILM just approved of ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS, it can't get any worse than THAT or the last trilogy OR the last Indiana Jones film. Disney bought Marvel in 2009 and look how well all those movies turned out, Joss Whedon is AWESOME and if he gets his hands on either of the two franchises oh boy :O can't wait. Even if he doesn't the movies will be way better than anything George Lucas can destro... make.
The only thing I DON'T like is the fact that they want to make a new movie every 2 years <.< so yeah lets hope the quantity doesnt decrease the quality, because lets be honest theres nowhere to go but up from the last trilogy.

I see this as an only positive thing. I can imagine that if Disney hired an excellent director and screen writer they could actually make a really wonderful film.

Like, imagine if they hire Nolan or Del Torro or someone else with a very strong, distinctive style.

No one is forcing you to watch it... they already released the train wreck that was Episodes 1-3 so its not like the Movie series is some holy unspoiled work. If it turns out great then we get to see more great Star Wars films and if it flops then you can go keep your 10 bucks for something else. Personally I'm hoping for an adaption of the Thrawn trilogy or maybe some of the X-Wings arcs. Later EU plots (Yuuzhan Vong, resurgence of jedi, etc.) require way too much backstory to be successful but who knows.
