Tbf it's mainly there to hype up Yama so far, showcasing that even Doom can't suppress his fear of him. But yeah it's pretty lame.

White is a cool character, but I just can't shake the feeling that's all he is. I hope he's impacting the story in subsequent chapters

Now he's suddenly supposed to protect people? Feels very out of character, he always was 10x worse than Karaka.

He's been a homicidal sociopath pretty much throughout the hell train, I don't get at all that he wasn't written out of the story then and he's just been hanging around near Baam ever since. I think he's just the bad boy of ToG ![]() Wouldn't be surprised if he starts riding a motorcycle.

Karaka has probably killed countless people, and here he is fighting alongside Baam. The thing I like about this series is that there are very few good, "righteous" people in the game. Everybody has their own interests they follow. If I recall correctly, we don't know what White really wants at this point. Gain power? Kill his dad? Even though he's a monstrous piece of shit, he's a useful ally. He's not really protecting Louie, he just hungry and wants to eat those guys' souls.

Karaka certainly was/is ruthless, but his brutality is a cunning rational one. White is just a maniac who enjoys trampling on and killing people.

However, If I was the one getting whacked by either of them, I don't think I would care what the motivations behind my killer's actions were. Both are pretty horrible people from a moral standpoint. That's why I'm pleased to see Baam team up with Karaka. The guy has definitely done some sinister shit, but the morally pure protagonist has a mature enough view not to reject his help simply because of it.

Also comparing an american subculture school kid being bullied at school with an algamation of three sword masters, offspring of the masters of the world. It's as if these characters have no backstory but what you make up yourself. It's pretty silly that he basically has a complete turn of character and is now drawing lines in rooms instead of having no problems killing people.

He appears to be an edgy kid that acts up but secretly longs for acceptance. Now that an opportunity at friends has come along, he's mellowing out.

Now that an opportunity at friends has come along, he's mellowing out. That is the backstory of his character though, as explained in the hell train arc. He was told to be a ruthless monster who forced people to obey him through power and then created strife between his followers for the lulz. Then the crew meets him and he kills his allies and tells Baam that he caused civil war in his own country so they would kill each other over and over again so he could eat their souls. He is depicted 100% as a sociopath with absolutely zero empathy and zero regard for human life during hell train who will kill people because he's either hungry or just feels like it. The only acceptance he ever yearned for was his father's and more because White became obsessed with his father's power and less because White saw him as a human being.

That's his backstory, yeah, but it says nothing about his mental state. His whole "devour souls" shtick seems like him overcompensating. Take a look at the interactions between him and his dad. He desperately wants acceptance/approval and figured that doing bad things was how to get it (hence, killing people, eating souls, gaining power). Now that he has a pseudo comradery with some characters, he doesn't feel the need to act up.

White seems to refer himself to not being his strongest. Does anyone remember what is sapping his "true potential"? It's also kind of a cool plot point since instead of falling away into irrelevance his power level might rise up together with Baam & company's .
