Even though there's really only a few hours worth of actual episodes, there's just so much stuff showing up all the time. but yeah, the amount of quality fanmade content being created every day is enormous and impossible to keep up with (the fanfics in particular), I haven't really seen so much dedication on this particular level from any other fandom before which is a testament to the fact that something really was done right with this show | ||

Today I just finished episode 26 of MLP and have joined the legions of bronies waiting for September 17th. Becoming a brony has been an interesting journey for me, so I figured I'd throw my hat in to this thread now that I've reached a significant point in said journey. At first, I had no idea about what was going on. I was browsing newt gingrich like normal, but wondering what these random ponies were, and more importantly, the pony threads. At first I ignored them because of how confused I was, but something was bothering me. The art style seemed very familiar. I've watched my fair share of Dexter's Lab, Power Puff Girls, and Fairly Odd Parents. I enjoyed all of those shows and they all had a similar art design. This peaked my interest and I started wading into pony threads. I didn't post or anything, I just gobbled up the funny image macros like a hungry alligator. See, I can be a very huge troll and to me this was the jackpot. The amount of rage directed at the pony threads was hilarious, the images were cute, and I found them funny. So I embraced the ponies as a weapon and proceeded to troll people with them. But, curiosity got the better of me, and under the guise of wanting to improve my craft, as it were, I watched the pilot (both parts) and said to myself "hey, this show is actually pretty good". But since the pilot is a poor reprisentation of the show, I wasn't hooked yet, unfortunately. I watched episodes very occasionally, in chronological order. Then something happened. I watched episode 7 and started to get sucked in. I don't know what it was. The plot of the episode? The increasing character development? Either way, that's the first milestone I reached. I started to watch the episodes a lot more frequently, wanting more and more to watch the next episode in the series. I started to like the characters and identify with them in different ways. I guess my liking for the show is really complex. Part of it is that I guess it reminds me of my childhood a lot. Another part is since I've been a fan of Faust's previous work, I subconsciously associate to them while watching the show. Also, the internet aspect of it can't be ignored. Certain pharses, expressions, poses, etc, remind me of the hundreds of newt gingrich references that make me smile. For example, when I was watching the episode with the owl in it, I kept imagining a troll face on the owl. Couple that with the strength of nostalgia glasses that are quite multi-faceted and the very well-done references to things that aren't girly at all (Icarus, anyone?), and you've got something really special. It doesn't hurt that it's cute as fuck, but not to the point where it sickens you. My next milestone was episode 16. My 2 favourite ponies are Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy (having trouble deciding on a clear favourite). I can't put my finger on it, but ever since that episode, I became a fanatic for the show. Using this as a reference, I guess I started out at Rainbow Dash, then jumped up in between Rarity and Fluttershy, went up to Applejack, then shot straight up to Pinkie Pie at episode 16. After that episode, I watched the last 10 pretty quickly. I guess that's it for my little ranty post. I could probably post a lot more, but I wanted to only touch on the more important points. Hopefully anyone that took the time to read my post enjoyed it. | ||

So I started watching this video and the clip from Sonic Rainboom was included when the thunderbolts enter the stadium in Cloudsdale. Then it hit me. OMG! THE THUNDERBOLTS DID A KOLVOORD STARBURST! For non-fans of Star Trek Next Generation: http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Kolvoord_Starburst The move involves five (only difference) craft flying in a circle each having the underside of their hull towards the inside of the circle. Then all fivecraft begin venting plasma and each pulls up at a 90 degree angle and ignite the plasma trail, resulting in a star shaped fire ball. Highly dangerous the move was prohibited from being attempted at Star Fleet academy. Same damn move. Also this makes me happy: | ||
