No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.
Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers. |

I can push you in the right direction; but if you want to be able to draw as well as me you're going to have to practice as hard as me. Dont worry about this talent bs. Its really just practice. You could wait until you see how good Agonyx90 is going to be in a few months to see proof of this.

I went to apply for a job at an animation company in town and I overheard them talking about ponies. I mention I like ponies too and they gave me their tablet and demanded I draw some ^_^ it was good fun, hope I have a shot at getting in there. Thought I'd share my story with people who appreciate ponies and animation

Very nice! Hope you get the job!

Having the animation industry like ponies is a good sign for future cartoons of all kinds.

Well, talent and its impact is widely discussed without there being any consensus about it. New studies on the subject are published every year but the results have too little significance. Personally I believe talent plays a much larger role than people think, even though I wish we lived in a world where everyone could be anything. I think lack of talent keeps hundreds of TL members only wishing they could compete in Korea, or someone as tone deaf as I from playing guitar despite trying as a kid.
Anyway, whatever its significance you're right in that everyone can improve. One pony who does not need to improve however is Celestia, because she awesome with Twi:

Starcraft example! Without at least some natural talent, you cannot aspire to win an MLG, but you can probably make it to grandmasters. So if "very good" is going to be enough for you, then just go out there and start learning how to draw, unless you have some kind of handicap you should be fine.

Brief Minecraft server update:
Hit some more snags. Basically, flying is broken. I won't go into details, but it's unbelievable to me that there isn't a single decent flight plug-in for bukkit. Hell, let me just tell you how stupid this is.
The mod with the coolest flight mechanic is global and can't be turned on/off for groups (meaning everyone can fly regardless of access assuming flying is enabled on the server). The mod with the second best flight mechanics (the one we've been using up to now) has this little problem where it grants permanent invulnerability to damage. What the shit?
There's multiple others that do one thing pretty well (ability to hover, decent flight mechanics, permissions), but never more than one at a time, and most of them are impossible to steer or broken as shit (800mph flying). I swear, every single one of these mods could be fixed with like one simple job of copy-paste.
What a bunch of brain surgeons.
Will find a solution tomorrow that isn't made of fail. Gonna get some sleep. Let me know if you guys know of any good solutions/mods/whatever.
To-do:
- Solve flight, or at least stop giving a shit
- Add a few more mods for Earth ponies
- Tweak Unicorn magic slightly
- Apple trees
- Upload server to server machine
- Write giant post in MLP thread
The server's launch will be delayed by a day or two more. And believe me, considering how much time I've spent on this by now, nopony's more disappointed about this than me. Now I'm waiting for the final word from our server master; once we have a server, we launch asap, and I adjust shit as we go. It's time to get this show on the road.
Here, have a screenshot, no texture mods installed.

Why, yes, that is Luna sealing a mob inside a glass dome and launching another one into the air with a geyser of water.
It's the little things in life.

+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/PK3WX.jpg) Yet more proof (as if we needed it) that Studio B is indeed awesome. Spoilering for high-class background ponies from last ep, though I think most people have watched it by now.
Good work on the mincraft server btw, it's going to be great once it gets rolling

After seeing the thread here, I decided to give it a go for season 1. I found it very refreshing and entertaining with a surprisingly good storyline. Definitely reminds me of cartoons in the 90's. My favorite character so far isn't a pony, its Spike. I'm going to wait for the entire season 2 to come out before I watch it.

Awesome, glad you enjoyed it! This thread was also my first introduction to ponies. Best thread EVER!
But... if you wait for all of season two then you don't get to join us for the live-viewing parties! I look forward to those so much every week.

I feel like Pinkie Pie and Applejack both wouldn't have a very strong episode if they were to have one by themselves. Because if you look at the episodes that featured RD, Twilight, and Rarity, they always used the pony's characteristic flaws as a basis for the episode. With that in mind Pinkie and Applejack don't necessarily have any flaws, at least strong enough to build an episode from.
Anyone else's opinions? Well I thought party of one was a good episode.
Between the amish and the breakdown it was Effing hilarious. Solidified Pinkie Pie as my Favourite mane 6 pony.

I can see i'm a social experiments of sorts... no pressure i suppose lol.
I do honestly believe though, that with hard work I can reach a higher level, regardless of being "talented" or "completely hopeless". Likewise, I don't ever think there's a true restriction on learning an art in terms of learning capacity, unless you physically are restricted (like true blindness or deafness).
I hate it when people say they are "tone deaf" and as a result, will never be good at music. I spent my whole life listening to music, singing and learning to read/play music. Even still, I was no good at singing until I had joined my church choir. Then I (very quickly) learned the proper manner of singing in parts other than the melody, proper posture, volume control, etc etc. Even though I have long stopped singing with a group, I still have those lessons ingrained in my mind and I love to sing whenever I can (even if now I feel like i kinda sound like crap voice quality wise).
And then there are those who have no music experience at all. Some people simply never had the chance or exposure to music like I had. Does this mean that they're now restricted? No, it just means that they're behind. But like all things in this world, learning curves grow harder the further you go in. This means that you can start as late as you want, but you can still reach a decent level and at least achieve the basics. Sure as you get older it becomes slower to learn, but it does not mean you cannot become good at a predominantly skilled based activity. All you have to do is work hard and be dedicated.
I don't think you should count yourself out Diversee. In fact, if you have the time and the actual passion, I think you should join me, since I would greatly appreciate someone to challenge the visual arts with me.
Also to A_Bandersnatch. DRAAAAAAW FOR US!!!!!!! please?

Uh, this is a mess, I never learned how to quote stuff. This reply is to GMarshal and Agonyx90 (hehe sorry for writing it like this. My computer skills are sad.)
I think the approach you two have to learning skills you want to be good at is a good one. Not having genious level innate talent shouldn't keep people from doing things they love. But some people, including me, get a little frustrated with things not coming to them as easily as for naturals (for me it was a reason I stopped playing SC2 - it was either Korea, or no playing ^^). Yes, it is pretty childish. Still, I do believe talent limits us a lot. Anyway your reasoning gives me motivation (as do ponies), so when I have time I'll try to learn more. Also, it's ridiculously fun whenever someone likes something you did.

Why are half of those fandom names so mean? "Escort Sluthooves"? I seriously hope that one doesn't stick.

Oh no, that one is a joke.
At this point, Fleur de Lise and Elizabeth are the accepted names.
