The rest of the series is totally different, not as political and dark. Endure the first episode, then watch the second one and if you still don't like it, watch the third too. If you still don't like it by then, then you can't be helped I had the same problem with You're beautiful. It's supposed to be a real good drama, but I couldn't stand the first episode at all and then stopped. I'll pick it up again once I have time just because I've learned that the first episodes tend to be very deceptive. + Show Spoiler +Edited to replace deceiving with deceptive. But thinking about it, what's the difference anyway!?
Yeah started city hunter again, got past the first episode which on second watch wasn't as bad as I remember, I actually like the whole Golden Triangle part. Now on EP 4 and damn I really like it's gotten so much better and I feel like i'm going to enjoy it even more than the other drama's I've watched, really liking the action parts.

Highly recommend Scent of a Woman. Very engaging story and a lot of really cool character twists. So far I've watched that, Secret Garden, and Dream High and would recommend them all. Secret Garden stands above the others as my favorite, but that's probably just because Ha Ji Won's character (Gil Ra Im) is the cutest person ever invented. Now I'm watching Cinderella Man and the poor guy (Oh Daesan) is a great character and all, but I'm not finding the others to be as engaging as I'd like. Yoona is super cute, but meh. Maybe it'll get interesting as the story goes on (i'm only on episode 4).

just a question guys. So im usually not the type for the whole romance/comedy/drama genre, but out of mostly boredom I watched "My Sassy Girl" (the korean version ofc) tonight. Holy shit that movie was so damn awesome it really left a deep impression on me. Guess im turning into a sentimental old fool .. So anyways what I was wondering, are these k-dramas anything near that level or would I mostly dissapoint myself by watching those?

i havent watched a lot of korean dramas but i noticed some of the settings looked kind of the same (hospital in city hunter + gumiho, some place thing in lovey dovey + city hunter) do they use these same places or am i just crayz

^ I wanted to post something along those lines too because what you remarked there is true. There's houses, streets and sceneries that are used across the board in television and cinema.
I'm certain I saw the house where Taecyeon's dad in Dream High lived in another drama/film. Also, the café used in this vid is the same where 49 days takes place. And I'm pretty sure the big company building where PMY almost fell from the 20ish floor in City Hunter is used in Scent of a Woman too.
There's dozens of other examples which I was too lazy to write down so I can't remember right now.
edit: Same goes for actors btw. And I don't mean the main roles which are used multiple times due to high popularity, but once you've seen around 15 dramas, you see the same ahjummas, the same drivers, the same henchmen and the same fathers and mothers. The "evil" ones from City Hunter are used all over the place, same goes for the henchmen of one of the bosses (CH) who reoccurs as a driver for Lim Se Kyung in Scent of a Woman; The father of Dae Woong (Gumiho) is the same as in My Girl. And the one in Lie to Me gets another role in Personal Taste.
I guess it comes naturally. Seoul doesn't have that many beautiful houses to rent/ public places to clear for the making of a whole drama. And same goes for actors: There aren't that many and when they're doing a good job, they get hired again. Gets kinda tiring though after some time to see the same old faces...

it happens in hollywood too, doesn't it? they use the same sets, i don't know why but nothing ever looks familiar >< maybe it's cause the TV shows go on for many years using the same sets instead of having it switch from show to show in korea? idk LOL

Yes, especially the older actors and actresses! I find that the repetition of younger main characters is less. Perhaps the filming schedule is too harsh for middle aged and older people, thus only a few are willing to stick around. While sets can be redecorated (I've never actually noticed a set being reused... maybe I'm just not observant), older new actors are hard to find.

I should be preparing my exams right now but due to lack of motivation I found myself picking up dramas again and watching them non-stop (oh dear my grades).
For those who think about Scent of a Woman: be warned. There's a distinct lack of QTs in the drama. The main actress' face will give you that Ahjumma feeling which will leave you with little to ogle at.
On the bright side, the storytelling is rewarding. It's a sad story with nothing to laugh about but the characters are reasonable (no "god I want to punch him/her so hard right now" moments) and absolutely believable. And I found it to be the first drama to actually give me a new view on life (or should I say death) - not groundbreakingly huge, but certainly something to think about.
If you're open to that kind of stuff, go watch it.

Has there been any news regarding IRIS 2? From what I remember hearing, it was going to begin around late 2011 or so. I did a bit of searching and haven't found anything new on it.

So today I watched the first two episodes (only ones out at this time) of "History of the Salaryman" and I gotta say it is incredibly funny. Although I will probably have a different opinion of it than you but I still recommend anyone to give it a try. Can't wait for next episodes!

Im kinda surprised that people seem to like my girlfriend is a gumiho so much.. Im not saying its necessarily bad but it just seems to be aimed at a lot younger age then the general TL member? I mean come on the scene where the aunt farts in the elevator in ep1 was just kiddy humor :/ Are the other k-dramas slightly more mature or is this just the way it is?
