I also didn't remember Valyrian had the same properties as Dragonstone in terms of fighting White Walkers. Was awesome to see Longclaw in action like that.

Yes, he meets Aegon (or so that's who he says he is...) who was believed to have been murdered by The Mountain. As far as I know that character is cut from the show -. -

It is kinda hard to believe that this isn't going to be in the books as well. Otherwise major plots would have to be changed. Or is the book Tyrion just gonna be stranded forever in Meereeen?

I was actually on the edge of my seat for the entire battle. The moment when Jon picks up Longclaw and crosses swords with the Other was GREAT. I was so expecting it, yet it was amazing. Excellent episode. The ending felt a bit weird. Wights can swim, can't they? In the books, there are many reports of "Dead things in the water" from East Watch by the Sea and stuff. Cersei stuff was great. Tyrion/Dany scene was a little more cringeworthy... it felt very, very rushed. Like boom, you're going to advise me. I think Dany would at least imprison him or something. At least, book-Dany would, because even though she suspects her father really was crazy, she's still in pretty severe denial about it. But it looks like show-Dany is a lot more progressive on the matter, so I guess it makes sense. Not sure where the Jorah stuff is going. Kind of eh really, but I'm curious to see where it goes. I'm pretty sure he'll be dead by the end of the season.

Regarding WInterfell/Stannis, some new details were revealed tonight. Roose has provisions for 6 months for his men inside Winterfell. Stanns men are starving. A march that should've taken 16 days has taken 52 and snow is waist high. The captains are eating cold horse meat and the lesser soldiers have started eating their dead. We got a number for Stannis forces at 3000. Half of what Bolton has. Ramsay wants to ride out with 20 men. Now we're in a bit of a fork in the road. Theon and "Arya" escape before Ramsay leaves to fight Stannis.. because Theon has a conversation with Stannis and warns him that Ramsay is coming. Something tells me Theon and Sansa will escape when Ramsay leaves for battle on the TV show. A slight deviation. Should bring us to the same point: The pink letter sent to Jon Snow. It was sent after Ramsay did battle with Stannis. He wanted his bride, Reek and called spoke of killing Mance/Abel and his washerwomen. Now we know the battle was significant only in that it got Jon Snow to ride south (and get killed). As for Stannis taking Winterfell - Roose can wait inside while they all starve. Things are starting to look GRIM. Bloodmagic should be an option (if Melisandre is with him in the books) and Theon the likely sacrifice. Also, the ravens around Stannis can be of use as well.

Otherwise major plots would have to be changed. Or is the book Tyrion just gonna be stranded forever in Meereeen? It's a little trickier in the books. (1)Barristan Selmy is in control of the unsullied and the city now that Danny is gone. (2)Tyrion and Jorah fight with the Second Sons, a sell sword company, and are loyal to Daenerys but it's a secret and they can do some assassinations on her behalf. (3)Danny herself is in the Dotraki sea with Drogon and are found by Jhoqo and his khalasar at the end of ADWD. How this will play out is unknown. Dragons can be killed by man, but at great casualties for the humans. Doing battle with them in the open is just crazy. The show has condensed parts (1) and (2)... Jorah is ousted from the city (for now). Barristan is dead. Jorah might return soon, and once Danny+Drogon fly off, Tyrion + Jorah will rule in her stead. Tyrions knowledge of Mereen and the people there is lacking at best. Jorah doesn't know much more. So they cut Selmy and the Second Sons and instead introduced Tyrion to Daenerys and gave the Selmy part to Jorah. Crowd: "The queen is gone! Who will save our city?" "I will" Crowd murmurs: "Who said that?" "I did, down here". Crowd: "You, but you know nothing about us" "It's OK, i have +5 plotwisdom. We'll be fine" Crowd rejoices and chants: "HALF-MAN! HALF-MAN!" Also, regarding Jon Snow north of the wall: White walkers.. north of the wall, winter has arrived, look at winterfell and it's a 15 day journey south of the wall.. snow everywhere! And the lake Jon Snow escapes on is LIQUID!?!?!?!? Ok, nevermind.. I'll roll with it. It's Liquid and people can sail there... But White Walkers are scared of water? Why not put a dam next to the wall... of because it will freeze and they will just cross it.. nevermind.

And as I said, in the books, there are several reports from Eastwatch which talk about "dead things in the water". The water did seem to be an obstacle to the wights and the Others in the books, but I would say it won't be for long.

I think Jon killing that WW was over the top and kinda cheesy, but the rest of the battle was excellent and very atmospheric. Valyrian steel = dragon steel, i just wonder how that works out timelien wise tbh?!

It seems pretty clear that Olly's gonna be the one to stab Jon. He's clearly resentful of him; Sam's words didn't help at all. There'll be others joining him, but Olly will probs be the one who literally stabs him (or shoots him; it wouldn't be the first time he's made everyone sad with his bow skills). However, the show has the new complicating factor of the imminent threat of the white walkers - in the books, everyone 'knows' about the threat of the white walkers, but it's not enough to unite them and make everyone at the NW realize they need someone strong and diplomatic like Jon. It becomes harder to envision them turning on Jon if there's literally an entire, huuuge army of wights (now joined by, seemingly, the resurrected wildling population) with only a small bit of sea separating them. Maybe they won't believe there's really a WW army coming, and take it as just another trick by Jon? Maybe Jon won't even have time to properly inform them before he gets stabbed? I dunno. Last ones are unlikely, seeing as Jon will arrive with at least a few hundred wildlings who will tell the same story as him. Looks like Tyrion will replace Barristan. Would have preferred if they kept Barry alive anyways, but then maybe Tyrion would have become superfluous as Dany's advisor, as all his ideas are already being enacted by Barry, or vice versa.

I also like some of the plot changes, the book had far too many conspiracy theories going on.
