Get spoiled instantly by an unreleased chapter.
GG
Hahaha, well, GG indeed. I was spoiled as well, when I finished. I didn't even know there was a chapter. I've read it since then. It's still worth the read, not much that is spoiler intensive happens in it.

If Jon Snow is the son of Prince Rhaegar and Lyanna, only Howland knows about this truth. Even if this is true, who would believe the word of a crannogman?? Not even Jon Snow knows this.. No one has the credibility to prove it..

What about some former companions of Rhaegar, like Selmy?

It's not even certain Howland knows, although likely. I am almost sure Selmy doesn't, simply because there would be a hint towards it somewhere.

Only Howland was in the tower when Ned (allegedly) took the kid. If that's what happened, then Howland most definitely does know.
A lot more people could potentially know that Lyanna was pregnant, but not what happened to the baby or whether it was born at all.

Theres the letter Robb send to the wall (his will?) to Jon, that card can change things in the North

I never understood why "random people" hated spoilers so much, especially in a series like ASOIAF, where so much foreshadowing is done. If you understand a foreshadowing before the event happens, you're not blaming Martin for having spoiled you, right?.
Like, if you're Leigh Butler and you're doing a one-chapter a week read and people are awaiting your reactions and conjectures, then yeah, spoilers suck. But for us... okay... I got "spoiled" that T+L=J, I didn't realize it by myself. I'm sure a lot of people were "spoiled" on that. I don't think that's a problem...

Thank god this is the top comment. Cya.

Each time I read this thread it reminds me of how much I forget stuff while waiting for the next book.

I love the series... but I am having a painful read of a dance with dragons devoured a feast of crows; but Its painful to read because I so want to see how thing play out at kings landing. On page 237 trying to power through 100 pages a day until I'm done...

Bad news then, ADwD is very light in that regard.
I'm surprised you ran through AFfC, I dropped that one for several months because I lost interest. Cersei and Jamie were the only POVs saving the book and even they were boring at times imo.

Because spoilers suck and everyone wants to decide themselves whether or not they want to be spoiled? Taking that decision away from someone else makes you a douche.

I had problems with feast on my first read but when rereading it recently I really enjoyed the book, aside from the Brienne and Sam chapters maybe. Sansa became one of the most interesting characters, Jaime's development was fun to follow, the stuff on Pyke was nice and getting a glimpse of Cersei's broken state of mind made the character a whole lot more deep. Along with that the stuff in Dorne brought something new to the story.

That's a really rare opinion but one I share. I love the Sansa chapters massively but most people either don't mention them or dislike them.

haven't checked for a while - how's Winds going? any updates?
(also I too loved the Sansa chapters in Feast)

how long's "a while"? there was a sort of preview of a tyrion chapter about 3 weeks back, dont think there was anything else recently

a while = since the 3rd season ended. Good to know, I won't read it though, will leave it for when the book comes out.

Am I forgetting anything or am I right to think that we haven't even seen Howland in the books? I seriously hope he becomes more prominent, as he's always sounded like one of the most badass dudes in all of Westeros.
