Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

At this point I've given up on trying to take the show too seriously because the characters have made a slew of decisions so stupid it just entirely broke the 4th wall for me. So I welcome over-the-top craziness at this point. Fuck it, ye know.
However my criticism of the episode and the season so far is that, while I know what they're getting at, while I understand that The Crew is going to somehow overthrow Rick or somehow convince him to do some Guerilla warfare or something. But the four episodes so far, that's four episodes in a row are just Rick's crew losing at every turn, getting fucked into a checkmate. It's to make their future success all the more satisfying I guess when it does happen. But until then 45 minutes of Rick's gang getting fucked gets pretty dull. 180 minutes of it is fucking irritating, pepper the thing with small victories otherwise it's just boring and sad.
Episode 1 set the stage, Negan is a dick and Rick is broken, that was fine Episode 2 was cute memes and sidequests, could come in handy Episode 3 set the stage again, Negan is a dick and Daryll is broken, could've been accomplished in 10 minutes Episode 4 set the stage again, Negan is a dick and Rick is still broken, could've been accomplished in 10 minutes
It's getting redundant. Wow, this summarizes it perfectly.

Honestly, Rick could have just had some people hide in houses or that sniper tower and exterminate the 20 guys they brought with them. They did the same exact thing before during the prison war. Negan's cockiness would have cost him his life. why even use a sniper rifle, they had a freakin rocket launcher and a single choke entrance where negan and his guys came through and chilled a bit I think RPGs are pretty bad at killing people, they're meant to destroy vehicles or some shit. Just mow them down with rifles, they were all clumped up ready to get torn to shreds by rifle ammo that can quite easily go through 2-3+ people before stopping. Negan's crew was complacent at least in appearance, but you can't know that they didn't have snipers of their own looking at the towers.

Isn't it time to just cut their losses and run? I guess the smartest thing doesn't necessarily make for good TV. Pack up what they have and drive 6, 8, 10 hours north or wherever. Refill on gas and keep driving. If they go far enough their chances of being found are slim to none. It's only a matter of time before more people die from not having interesting offerings so I think that danger outweighs leaving a man behind.

Agreed. Ditch Alexandria, its no longer a safe option. They are under constant threat of being killed. I understand not wanting to leave Daryl and they probably want some sort of revenge still but you have to cut your losses like you said.
Also don't understand why they just don't kill Negan and see what happens. I'll bet more than just a few of the people hes got working for him are doing it because theres no other option. Some are probably just bad guys and will have to be fought back but ya. Kill the leader, watch the saviors have a civil war and almost disband.

I think they aren't running because Alexandria is a paradise by walking dead standards. Even Negan's compound doesn't have that level of luxury. Rick thinks he can manage under Negan's rule and lead an okay life.
Honestly, I don't blame him. They have been on the run since the prison was destroyed. They survived cannibals, weird death cultists, some pedophiles and a couple thousand zombies. Living under the fist of a tyrant while still having access to food and water and shelter is far better than the alternative.

That's what the deal with the Hilltop that started all of this was all about.

Should have made farms by now but whatever. You really think they'd be better off roaming and scavenging?

Should have made farms by now but whatever. You really think they'd be better off roaming and scavenging? Absolutely without a doubt. They cannot sustain highly profitable scavenging runs. They've been there for a long time now - they've already searched within an X mile radius. As time goes on they have to go farther and farther. That makes it exponentially harder and more dangerous. Bad week? Someone dies. Anyone cracks and disrespects or rebels? Someone dies. They can barely feed what they have right now hence the hilltop deal. What's the point of the safety of the walls if everyone has to be gone constantly to find random shit to give away. At a certain point they'd be better off just scavenging for themselves and keeping it all - hence the running away. I think they're at that certain point. Leaving is like rolling the dice and would be dangerous but the reset button is better than the current arrangement.

I haven't seen episode 4 yet, but just a quick comment about episode 3: those guys mopping the hallways were using dry mops. They were doing literally nothing :|

E: Also, I'm still not over of how Glen died. Not the most gore among scenes I've seen, but for a character that I've followed for 6 seasons...man.

Not even half way through the season and they already doing filler episodes. Just skipped over the entire Enid scenes as she does nothing at all for the show and for some reason the writers have focused more on her than character's in the main group like Eugene, Sasha, or even Gabriel.
Stupid episode.

Yeah that ep was very grim. Nothing happened.

Really boring chapter, I even didnt see the last 15 minutes.

ZZZZZZzzzz, almost like they gave up on this show

I liked the episode. Steven Ogg is a great actor. Shame that he's probably going to die.
Also I liked Carl in this episode. Something that I'd never thought I'd say.
