Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Meh. The huge anime Negan eyes in the TV series is not as scary as the squinty redneck Negan in the comics, who is much more believable. How hard would it be to pretend to be loyal to be Negan, and simply shoot him with a gun. The whole Negan being a leader thing without a single Brutus is as stupid as some guy with a tiger.

I was thinking something like that, just say: I am Negan, and then escape or do whatever you want, wtf.

I like this season but it would be so much better if we could binge watch. Not seeing whats up with ricks group for 3 weeks is pretty annoying.
|
okay episode really. Negan had some entertaining lines. Also, we kind of have already seen this plot in season 3 with the governor... Not totally the same of course, I'm just saying that they could've used some outside of the box thinking.
Someone spoil me by telling if the comics ever show winter season? Put in spoilers if needed. For me it seems that time has proceeded a whole year in the show already...
|
i don´t quite understand why they deviated from the books in bringing Darrel in as the hostage. It just seems to make for weaker scenes overall and less character development.
|
Yes there are winter scenes in the comics. AMC does not shoot during the winter months mainly during late Spring through the summer and finishes early Autumn.

why do I keep opening this thread? I still haven't had time to sit down and watch the latest episode :\

this is the first time i'll actually admit that you really didn't miss much.

No comment on this week episode by anyone?

I'm a comic fan and a Negan fan but they need to tone him down a little bit lol. I feel like the director is to blame for this. Dean Morgan can play the character, they just need to reel it in a bit and no more close ups of him licking his teeth for at least 1 episode lol.
|
yup they are putting Negan in a lvl that only Goku can save Rick and company, this is bad since this means Negan will be down in some stupid way.a new good episode of Negan,he is very funny :D

Call me crazy but I miss the good old prison saga. This feels way too melodramatic. Prison vs. Newberry was the shit. The show didn't really take itself seriously back then. They turned a fun TV show a depressing movie series.

Be nice if Karol just shot him and the TV series moved on from the Negan arc. It doesn't really excite me as I already know what happens in the comics, and Negan trying to do his swear as much as possible in every sentence thing doesn't sound as cool as the Grom Hellscream from Warcraft II voice I used to hear it in when reading the comics.

To be honest, this Negan arc is alright for me, a person who hasn't read the comics
|
Haven't read the comics, and I find this Neegan arc one of the dumbest ones yet. We have not met a SINGLE person who doesn't absolutely hate this bully's ass, and people like Dwight must have multiple easy opportunities to shoot him in the face. Hell, even Rick and Darryll have had numerous opportunities to kill him... and what is keeping his whole organization together seems to be pure fear of him, so take him out and everybody will move on in a more reasonable manner. But no, we need to focus on crazy eyes for more episodes.
And no. Dwight is not a believable character. Nor is his ex-wife.

Negan's actor tries too hard to appear terrifying instead of being terrifying by nature. He doesn't have the natural charisma of the Negan in the comics. Which is strange, considering that we're comparing a 2d cartoon to a real human. But yes, I agree, no need to fight the saviors, just kill Negan and they'll tear eachother apart over who becomes the new leader. Use that opportunity to assert dominance.
Honestly, Rick could have just had some people hide in houses or that sniper tower and exterminate the 20 guys they brought with them. They did the same exact thing before during the prison war. Negan's cockiness would have cost him his life.
|
Hopefully the TV show will explain why they can't do that, for good reason. But this being AMC I doubt it.

I find Negan to be pretty interesting to be perfectly honest. Perhaps interesting is the wrong word, but "fun" sounds right. At this point I've given up on trying to take the show too seriously because the characters have made a slew of decisions so stupid it just entirely broke the 4th wall for me. So I welcome over-the-top craziness at this point. Fuck it, ye know.
However my criticism of the episode and the season so far is that, while I know what they're getting at, while I understand that The Crew is going to somehow overthrow Rick or somehow convince him to do some Guerilla warfare or something, unfortunately the four episodes so far, that's four episodes in a row are just Rick's crew losing at every turn, getting fucked into a checkmate. It's to make their future success all the more satisfying I guess when it does happen. But until then 45 minutes of Rick's gang getting fucked gets pretty dull. 180 minutes of it is fucking irritating, pepper the thing with small victories otherwise it's just boring and sad.
Episode 1 set the stage, Negan is a dick and Rick is broken, that was fine Episode 2 was cute memes and sidequests, could come in handy Episode 3 set the stage again, Negan is a dick and Daryll is broken, could've been accomplished in 10 minutes Episode 4 set the stage again, Negan is a dick and Rick is still broken, could've been accomplished in 10 minutes
It's getting redundant.
