Yes Glenn was a boring character all around now, of course that is a problem of the writers. He is not neccesary for any future development. for the last seasons standards of TWD this was a very good chapter.

Show Negan is looking promising but the RV scenes with him and Rick were so pointless and convoluted. Why do they always have to go over the top with stuff like that? I guess having obtuse shocking moments with Rick running around and grabbing hanging zombies is easier than nice dialogue.
I've been a show hater for awhile but I have to watch and see how they do the Negan arc. He's so cool in the comics and I hope they do him right. The actor playing him seems good so far!

The axe scene was kinda cool. It reminded me of that biblical passage where god tells Abraham to sacrifice his son and then stops him at the last second.
Too much melodrama though. They extended one scene into an entire episode. Should have ended last season with them killing abraham and glenn. Then, this season should have started with the "sacrifice your son" scene and the rest of the episode would have been alexandria.
Then again, this season is like 8 episodes so I guess it's a filler season. It's kind of strange considering this show's popularity but still... seems like another mini arc.

Good episode overall but the A<C being cheap set in even during the important scene where Negan is hitting an an obviously nothing with CGI blood splattering out.

Meh, I found this episode incredibly boring. It's like watching The Passion of the Christ, the gore makes you gag but when you think about it NOTHING HAPPENED. Rick's shivering was kind of gay too, very fake. They've cut off people's arms before in the past when infected, and given that Negan just killed two of his guys in past episodes he would have used the axe to attack Negan and somehow everyone manages to dodge bullets and miraculously get out.

I don't know what Negan's like in the comics but it seems that in this TV series they're trying to make him into someone he's not, even the Governor was scarier with an evil slant to him, but this Negan guy just seems like a bogan with a baseball bat. Nothing to really "strike fear" into someone other than some rumors and legend from the comic books. If there were no comic books, he would just be another random bad dude.

Pretty much this for me. I was getting very annoyed that they were taking forever to do what I felt could have been done in last seasons finale

Glenn's death was especially gruesome, which I don't mind but it struck me as a bit much considering this is a show with broad appeal.
Either way, it felt stretched out a bit too much, yet at the same time it did manage to convince me that he "broke" Rick and got him to submit. He knows who the boss is, and it's not because he's weak but because he got fucked over by a man who clearly is a sadist. I think that it's not necessarily completely uninteresting for Negan to go completely overboard with the violence considering that it's a man who can't show weakness to his crew so he goes crazy. When shit starts getting tough for his leadership they'll be scared to move against him.

How did nothing happen? Two major characters died, Rick's will was broken and the whole group was enslaved. Name one episode in which more relevant stuff happened.
And about cutting off Carl's arm: it's one thing to cut off a bitten limb to stop the infection and save a person's life, but cutting off your son's arm just because a sadist demands it is quite another.

Yeah, the show lost me here. I could stand the fact that nine out of twelve episodes were total fillers, I could stand the boring drama and some of the more annoying characters, but that was too gruesome for me. I didn't think they'd actually show him bashing in the skulls, I can't take that.
