Question though: When Shane died, it took literally a minute for him to turn in to a zombie, but when Andrea's sister died back in season 1 she was sitting there holding her for hours and hours before she started to show any signs of zombifying(sp?). Is it supposed to be random like this? If so, I'd hope to see it remain that way throughout future episodes.

Look on the last page, it was explained by Dr. Jenner that it takes minutes or hours for someone to come back.

Kickass episode. I knew when they had that shot of the moon and Rick and Shane kinda facing off that shit was going to go down. Didn't really expect it though, didn't think it would come down to that. The drama/incidents in this show are kinda over the top but I enjoy it.

When a woman invites you to sleep in her bedroom, you do not awkwardly say you're sleeping on the couch. What will her father think? dude gave you his heirloom pocketwatch and the thumbs up on fucking his daughter. Now instead of sleeping beside maggie you get to sleep beside hershel and tdog. Glenn, you are so lucky your only competition is Tdog and she's probably not into guys who are mute

The drama/incidents in this show are kinda over the top but I enjoy it. Think of all the times Shane, Rick, and Crew have gone out and played with zombies. In the episode this season where Shane and Rick have their little bus yard brawl, Shane stabs an Infected Zombie with a knife, and the proceeds to use the same knife that hasn't been disinfected or anything similar to cut open his palm to get blood to try and attract them to the spot. Rick even says the same thing earlier in the episode, about the 2 zombified cops. Never bitten, but more than likely scratched or an open wound then died of another cause. It's pretty easy to see that the disease itself CAN kill, but doesn't always. However if you are infected and die you will walk again. + Show Spoiler + Honestly, I hope we get Rick's "We are the walking dead" speech next week. I doubt it what with it looking all action packed, but there is a possibility.

edit: If the last part of the above post is factually correct, then I guess that's my answer. Not sure if that's something set in stone yet though.

Like if you survived the physical damage of the bite and were patched up, would you go insta-zombie or would you still be fine until you die? There was someone in season 1 who got zombied without dieing beforehand wasn't there? i could be mistaken here..its been a year. edit - think i was thinking of Amy who did die(and then reanimate) oops >.<

Zombies are a walking cesspool of diseases and you'd get one hell of an infection.

I liked the up close and personal stabbing and the tormenting bloody mess that resulted from it. I think that he thought that maybe he could sell killing Shane if it looked like Shane turned and Rick had to kill him. He used the knife that he was killing all these zombies (it had zombie blood on them) so that he would get infected and turn. This is why there was a bit of two episodes ago where Rick was teaching Shane how to kill with his knife, to probably foreshadow this. At this point there is a little confusion about how scratches turned people into walkers. There is the comic book theory, but that isn't really canon at this point. It probably will be though. And if Rick knew it, then he just wanted to sell it or something. I just thought him teaching Shane about the knife was weird, clearly Shane was smarter than that. Looking at it now, it was probably foreshadowing. I wouldn't be surprised if that was Rick's rationale.
