This movie is awesome, thank you for recommending it
Just A-MA-ZING!!! One of the best movies i have EVER seen.. Can't believe i missed this one lol. Defo Reccomend this to other ppl!!
So I watched Love Exposure because of this thread. It was quite interesting to say the least, I enjoyed it =). When I was looking for the trailer on youtube, I think I saw that the whole movie is actually on there in like 25 different parts for anyone who wants to watch it lol. Kept my attention for the whole 4 hours really.
- Let me put Election aka Hak Se Wui 1&2 in this list. Why? Well simply because of the fact it's another Johnnie To Triad flick!!. But this one is special because not only there is a pretty consistent sequel(in fact both movies are one long movie hehe), but it was Quentin Tarantino's favorite movie of the year 2005 and he actually helped promote this movie! Nuff said, here are the posters ^^
-Next movie coming up is Protege(2007) , starring HK superstart Andy Lau and directed by prodigy Derek-Yee!
I really can't say too much about the plot here, cause its a spoiler dangerous one^^. But keywords are drug-trafficking, and dynamic characterizatoin of the two main characters and undercover cop ^^. Ah, and its really realistic, believe it or not^^
Enjoy! And btw , if anyone has questions about any HK topic or has trouble finding these movies in any form ^^, feel free to msg me, would like some feeback <3
It looks like The Signal hasn't been mentioned yet. Great low budget horror that really surprised me! Seriously if you enjoy horror movies you will most probably like this one.
Battle Royale takes place in an alternate timeline—Japan is a fascist state, known as the Republic of Greater East Asia (大東亜共和国 Dai Tōa Kyōwakoku). Under the guise of a "study trip," a group of students from a Junior High School are sleep-gassed on a bus. They awaken in the Okishima Island School on Okishima, an isolated, evacuated island southwest of Shodoshima. They learn that they have been placed in an event called the Program. According to the rules, every year, 50 third-year high school classes are isolated, and each class is required to fight to the death until one student remains. Their movements are tracked by metal collars; if any student should attempt to escape the Program, or enter declared forbidden zones, a bomb will be detonated in the collar, killing the wearer. If no student dies in any 24 hour period, all collars will be detonated simultaneously.
They give each kid a pack with survival gear and a random weapon to equalize the playing field. Unless you know japanese, you have to watch it subbed, but I still greatly enjoyed regardless.
Working my way through movies in this thread, thanks for sharing this one. I hadn't heard of it, and I enjoyed the film, it was interesting. Like Lord of the Flies on crack.
Obtaining The Signal right now, thanks Soleone. Sounds like something I'll enjoy greatly. Will edit this post later after I've watched it.
I'm thinking about writing up soon a sizable movie blog post about dystopian/post apoc movies. Will have to get a few more under my belt, though, before I feel comfortable enough to talk with really any authority.

Edit: I just watched the entire movie then. If you're interested, do yourself a favour and watch the movie from the start before you watch the fight scene. There is actually more to the story than just Fighting. Very , very good movie.
