I'm pretty new to the metal scene, but I've fallen in love with THA (first 40 seconds is piano if u want to skip ahead)
This is off their new album with a different singer
This is a fun thread, crazy how passionate people get about their metal, I love it. If anyone has any recommendations on where I should take my metal experience next I'd be happy to hear them. Having a blast listening to everything posted.
By the way, animals as leaders BLEW me away. Really good instrumental stuff. I know some of this might be "hardcore" but I love the hardcore / metalcore / whatevercore music. I hate that everything has to be a crazy genre.

This post is dumb enough to get you temp-banned, but I feel the need to defend Dream Theater from ANYTHING but WORSHIP. Why they're awesome as a band: The album, "Octvarium": http://dt.spatang.com/octavarium.php
Portnoy:
Petrucci:
Myung:
Rudess (this one of my favorite songs to learn on Piano in years):
I don't know how I would properly show off a vocalist, so sorry....
Also, the fact that the band met/was assembled at Berklee has GOT to say SOMETHING....
