Well, there's the disaster of a Finals that Team Liquid had against Wings at ESL One Manila to keep in mind. While the TL vs OG winner will be the favorite, it's not an assurance.

In Bo5 series, you really have to isolate out the Power Synergy a team used to win the previous match. Sometimes, it's just something like sneaking in an Alchemist at the right spot. Other times, it's a 2-hero combo. And, in other series, it's specifically singling out a player to put on an off-hero for them.
At Manila, Liquid just didn't realize how powerful the Void + Phoenix was. Though Games 2 & 4 could have actually gone either way. Liquid more just lost the 50/50 engagements too often. (Sometimes, that's all that separates teams.)
On June 19 2016 18:17 nojok wrote: What was this draft from OG? I'll check the pick order later.
es bat wisp timber meepo
The vod is already up, I watched the whole draft and the first 15 minutes I did not catch, it was outplays after outplays with an extremely snowbally line up, OG's draft was far from bad in fact but fly's ES is not cr1t's one, miracle got baited a lot and MC controleld him so well in fights, add a rusty notail's meepo on top of that and it looked like a tier 1 team against a tier 2 team. So I think OG's draft was fine but the level of execution required was way too high.
On June 19 2016 19:04 Asha wrote: looks like a bad day for OG
6.88 is out so looks like they were just a patch team
The funny bit is that the "patch team" tag was somewhat accurate through most of 6.86. OG really had to rearrange a lot of how they played together, and they've found ways to adapt to several patches now.
The interesting part about the Lifestealer + Good Vehicle strategy is that it's functionally just a new version of what Team Secret did to win to the Shanghai Major. It was a different hero combination (Lion + Invoker + Nature's Prophet), but the approach is really similar. You can always find ganks from 10 minutes through the end of the late-game.
The ability to gank solo farmers is just so powerful.

The attendance is usually like this early on in the morning from what I can tell.
Those two teams have their own meta going on after playing so many series agaisnt each other in the last few weeks, it often leads to some weird games but they're still head and shoulders above na'vi or vega.
god some of you are super hard to please lol. -you- try to execute against ET and mass zoo when your initiation depends on other people's initiation and the enemy team grouping tightly. it's such a fast-paced game and there were enough items on the field that bristle is the only one who can afford to tank spells (though he made a BKB).
just watch where the fights were taking place. both parties are doing the tango in the jungle and backing off after one or two casualties of any sort.

Chuan's Lion is godly. The rest of the hero pool he's pretty weak on. (Which teams finally started to exploit at Manila. Though a bit late.) I can't explain that either.

The existence of majors and that it's just one week after one probably have a bigger impact there.

Majors did not exist back then, the hype was higher for those kind of tourneys, besides it happened one week ago and Frankfurt also hosted a major. Besides liquid is half German so I think they should have a bigger fanbase than EG or secret in Germany. OG also has a very likeable team, same for na'vi and alliance. Add LGD to the mix for the East vs West story line and it was a near perfect line up.

HNNNN I am so hungry. Is going into town and getting food for the Grand Finals worth missing Navi vs Vega? Can't really order from home as I don't have any cash on me and the drivers don't take card >_>;
Was that radiant fortification a missclick? No structure seemed to be in danger. Also Vega seem to play sloppier when they're trying to go on the offensive. First the aegis, and because they go for Dendi they can't kill him and they position in a way that plays into Na'Vi's AoE it looks like.

Simply went from killing slardar to killing timber. Did not work out, apparently armor is a good thing toi have.

As broken as Timber is, that's a very narrow minded perspective on what happened. Na'vi had a lineup with multiple sources of damage/controls and disables. Slark was insanely fed and led the networth, but his team had absolutely nothing. It was cute with the refreshers/puck aghs, but at the end of the day you have to be able to deal damage and follow up. The support on Vega was simply dying way too fast and in the last couple fights they tried to jump on Timber for some bizarre reason.
the problem was that once slardar got his heart, slark wsnt killing slardar in 3 hits, and without killing slardar in 3 hits he could crush and keep the tempo of the battle
and even more when navi realized that "hey we just need 300 hexes and gg"

I don't know if SD last buff was necessary, I don't know why he was ignored so much during the rise of naix and alche or even spectre. He synergises with tons of heroes, counter a lot of others and just brings so much DPS against those melee carries with no good escape spells.

Haters gonna hate. Hyped to watch it on the premiere, been a long time since I've watched a proper popcorn flick
Man Im so glad NaVi has got to this point as a team again. I admit I was one of their biggest doubters when they formed this new lineup. Nice to be proven wrong.
Holy shit Sportv(biggest Brazil cable sports channel) is going to broadcast the whole finals live. It may be kind of lame but I'm getting emotional over this
I just don't understand giving up value point on ES aura. I believe the biggest power of ES is having only 1 point on aura and wreck enemies by standing near them with Spirit....
On June 20 2016 02:01 Latham wrote: Why do people make dragon lance but never upgrade to hurricane pike?
They're just picking it up for the stats and attack range. 14 strength and agility + attack range for 1900 gold is really useful. Hurricane pike costs another 2k gold, it just isn't as useful as building to other items. W33 even built dragon lance for the stats alone (when it was +15 instead of +14) when he was playing meepo against CoL.
Also, for TA the bonus attack range is pretty important. It gives even more range than 3 points in psi blades.
LOL, Notail clapping in with the crowd after Kunkka pick... :D And the Na'vi guys shaking their heads with a hint of a smile... (or am I imagining the second one?)
Phoenix has 3k gold, 2k gold in midas so in fact he just has tranquils, still the most impactful support by a fucking mile, fly's phoenix is disgusting and I hope valve jumps on the opportunity of a 88b before it's too late for TI or qualifiers.

That's what playing against far better opponents does.
What a crushing defeat for Na'vi. The funny thing is Na'vi had such a great start but some of the most bizarre pick offs and casual feeds really cost them the lead.
Idk what it says about the gulf between Na'vi and Tier One teams at the moment when OG gives a huge handicap like that and you can't win.
Secret had some conflicting problems leading up to TI5. I doubt OG will have any of that sort. If OG are gonna flop in TI6 its gonna be because all the other teams studied THE FUCK out of their drafts. Even then you'd still have to perform at the level of OG and not just outdraft them to beat them.
OG endorses the role of the team to beat but they're not giving up on lesser lans. I remember the insane amount of online qualifiers they played before the Frankfurt major and they're not slacking like some other top teams did after being so dominant.
