At best, I thought the other two Chinese teams were able to take them down, but IG is going to fail as usual, so it's down to one Chinese team. Even if you didn't think they "weren't going to be an issue", you have to be absurdly biased to think EG's odds against them were 80/20 or better.
The only teams at TI4 that were so much worse than EG that they could have 80/20 odds against them are Arrow and NAR.
Like, if EG is the best team, and DK is slightly worse than them, if teams 3-6 are all Chinese, the odds are still stacked against EG even if EG has relatively good odds against each of them. Your chance of losing a set gets high even with good odds once you're playing a sufficient number of sets.

Yea maybe I don't remember right but I'm pretty sure most people thought EG was the sole western hope last year. And they lost to IG in the last tournament before the big one. Going into last year, even I thought the West only had an equal shot at taking it. This year IS different. The West has not lost a single tournament in the last three months. It is going to be a Western year. last year all western teams were far behind chinese and only EG who was much weaker than they are now had a shot at taking a game off of them. this year it is indeed different though, but chinese werent as far behind as you think they were. Why is it always "West vs China"? Kinda weird since Euro and America are different regions should it be West vs Eurasia? SEA vs the world CIS vs boring calculated doto

In Dota, I feel that the best teams simply win. When Alliance was at the top, they didn't drop a single team against Chinese teams in over twenty games. Why would I just give Newbee a shot?
