last year western teams looked good going into ti?

Yea maybe I don't remember right but I'm pretty sure most people thought EG was the sole western hope last year.

And they lost to IG in the last tournament before the big one.

Going into last year, even I thought the West only had an equal shot at taking it.

This year IS different. The West has not lost a single tournament in the last three months. It is going to be a Western year.

last year all western teams were far behind chinese and only EG who was much weaker than they are now had a shot at taking a game off of them.

What? I remember the Americans won an entire tournament with Chinese teams. You don't do that just by being able to take a game off.

this year it is indeed different though, but chinese werent as far behind as you think they were.

We don't know yet. The top 3 Western teams are all still in the tournament. And there's no way the Chinese are so behind that they're behind the bottom Western teams. I never believed that.

c9 won a tournament against DK as well, but it doesnt make them a contender for TI.
eg was the only top tier western team last year and they constantly lost to chinese teams except the one time where they beat vg and dk 2-1 and 3-2 respectivly after being 5th out of 6 teams in the groupstage.
they were far behind the chinese competition.

Why is it always "West vs China"? Kinda weird since Euro and America are different regions

But if you're the *only* good Western team, you have to be vastly better than every contender Chinese team to take the title.

Like, if you consider Newbee+VG+DK as the only Chinese contender teams to EG taking the title, EG has to be 80/20 against each of them individually in order for them to have a 50/50 shot at taking the title vs. any one of the others taking it.

Even if you thought EG was the best team in the tournament (which is fair), saying that the West *as a whole* has a 50% chance of winning TI is absurd.

I didn't think Newbee and VG were going to be an issue; they didn't look top at all before the tournament, and indeed Newbee didn't even look top during the tournament. At best, I thought the other two Chinese teams were able to take them down, but IG is going to fail as usual, so it's down to one Chinese team.

I still would have preferred enigma on EHOME or something big and scary for AM.

You run at people early then get eventually get aghs and take a massive vision advantage. Silence also pretty amazing vs am.
