Thank you for also insulting me by even implying "extrapolating" is any out of the ordinary word at all. The crowd cares about cheering for an American team, they don't care about the Chinese team in particular, because they care about EG winning. You're going far out on a limb to say they're trying to manipulate the pChinese team. The fans aren't obligated to cheer any specific way and cheering for a country isn't very non threatening especially when it's an incredibly non offensive chant. This whole thing is very simple and easy to understand. Stop. Read my next post carefully. You're the one making presumptions. 1. I didn't say extrapolating was out of the ordinary, but that you used it incorrectly. I didn't want to offend you, was just playful. 2. I didn't say they were trying to manipulate the Chinese team. I said that the chants create a hostile atmosphere. I didn't say it was intentional, but I do think it's something fans should be conscious of. 3. The bold text was not presumptuous, it was logical. You said a team playing abroad was not 'supposed to' feel comfortable, by which you imply that other people are 'supposed to' make them feel uncomfortable. I know this wasn't what you were trying to say, I was once again picking on your use of language. Cheering for a country in this sort of situation is generally considered bad form (except in the US, apparently) because the teams are not there to represent a country. It's down to different cultures, let's forget it.

You were pretty much just like the Liverpool supporters when they won the Champions League against AC Milan. You missed 2 pretty damn amazing blackholes.
