I think the problem wasn't his laning getting nerfed, but the change in creep camps that completely messed up his jungling. He needed the small camp next to the hard camp so he could kill the small camp twice (to get lv 2) while stacking the hard camp. Now if he wants to kill the small camp for lv 2 he has to use the pull camp (and stack the other hard camp, which is a lot easier for the enemy team to mess up, especially if you're on dire), meaning supports don't have the option of using it. Same thing with DS having kinda fallen off.
