He should try reinstalling or re-formatting if that does not work. Laptops aren't best for gaming.

Actually I'm pretty sure the response you get wasn't quite right; I believe (eastern Europeans correct me here) his name, XBOCT, his cyrillic for his name, which is pronounced something like Hivorst. Google search cyrillic alphabet and you'll find T sounds like T, C sounds like S, etc, etc.

It's an adaptation for russian letters, it's suposed to sound something like HVOST. Here's an old thread in playdota, I believe from the time Tobi called him something close to xbox, like you said is correct http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?s=d2df75ff860357d59125f3840a9e56ba&t=516536. Edit: Or try this, I don't have speakers right now, but it should work: Go to http://translate.google.com/#auto|en|хвост and click listen.

He tries to pronounce it how it's originally supposed to be. Understandable that most people don't know this and get confused/upset etc (as Tobi did at start with xbox).

Thanks for linking that thread; Tobi has grown on me over time, but I still get pissed at some of his mispronunciations. I never had a big issue with that, personally. To be honest I expected a diferent reaction, since he tried his best to pronouce the name correctly after the complaints, as you can see from his reply. Probally every caster that had no interaction with eastern european languagues would call him something close to xbox as well. Some players just make their life dificult, how are you suposed to call someone named 7ckingMad on a stream?

It's a nice combination so it ends up balanced, but there's a clear difference when tobi is dominating the cast and when synd is speaking.

Or should I just start randoming and learn as I go? You should know every skill of every hero at least, so you don't go learning the "hard way". For this reason you shouldn't random as any hero may prove to be your weak point on the long run, you'd have a terrible game then (not to mention ruining it for others). Think of it like you wouldn't play a 4v4 random in Starcraft if you just bought the game and were still in Practice League. Once you learn all the items and heroes they'll stick, and you'll have the liberty of choice and not suck badly when it's your first time.
