Hey guys,
What do I do as Clockwerk when I run out of mana early? Typically I open with some regen, a stout shield, and some branches, then go for mana boots and then Mek (unless someone else on my team is buying it). But sometimes I find myself with zero mana and like 500 gold short of the arcanes. If there's a ranged right clicky hero or someone with a stun in their lane it then becomes really hard to get that last 500 gold with only last hits.... what do I do at that point? Is it better to run back to base and regen my mana or to buy clarities? Or am I missing something?
Thanks

Depends on where you are laning. If mid then you can bottle. If sidelane then you mainly want to conserve mana for cogs and battery assault if you can land a kill. If you are offlaning solo you may have no choice but to go rockets and that is where you will really hit mana issues. I like to get Basi on Clock especially if I am solo and not mid.

from time to time i play some AD: thought i get a nice combo when i got shaker-totem + gyro-ult. But i got screwed, totem isnt working with calldown.
so how is it working? is there some kind of "rule" that i can stick to? like only single-target spells etc pp?

Yeah usually I'm offlaning and relying on rockets for farm. Not really ganking much until i'm level 6 and have Arcanes.

"Attack" refers only to autoattacks. Skills aren't attacks. They're "skills", "spells", or some other distinct term.

This does bring up an interesting question though. Would totem work with flak cannon? As in, would all targets get extra dmg or only the first one hit? Based on how AA's garbage works I'd guess only the first target?

Thanks Running bottle isn't uncommon in offlane; in fact it's pretty standard in the competitive scene. The sustain it provides is especially useful in the mid game, where you spend loads of time roaming about, looking for kills. You can secure a lot of runes this way, which only aids your ganks.
The most important consideration you have with this item in the lane is how to best refill it without completely screwing over your mid laner (assuming they built bottle). If he is controlling the runes, you're probably safe to bottle crow and if he isn't, make it your job to guard the rune closest to your lane. If all else fails, at least having a base trip is more rewarding than usual.
Of course, the best thing to do is just be observant and strike a nice balance, dependent on the game.
Edit: I should also point out that the bottle typically functions as a replacement for arcane boots. Having both is usually overkill. Generally pro players prefer to build phase boots on clockwerk to help with chasing. It can even be advisable to leave them as brown boots and rush the mek/blademail, etc. if your team is reliant on it.
Hope I helped.

one last thing about the totem: since it seems to boost the attack, and works with other modifiers. tidebringer + totem sounds pretty devastating (if you would ever be able to get it)

Yes. Have had, can confirm. Is much better on ranged heroes simply because you don't have to get into melee range to 1-shot their whole team.
Note: the best ulti to get with totem (outside of maybe walrus punch which gives u a guaranteed crit + totem) is likely grow since it is one of the few abilities to add substantial amounts of base damage in the game.

Enchant + Jinada + Tidebringer + Grow. The dream.

That sounds really hard to theorycraft the levelling scenarios for as all those skills need to be maxed XD. Plus laning would probably be hell, unless you were maybe a ranged hero not against bullshit.
But LOL free wins by the time ur level 11 everything dies in 1 hit.

buy bottle on cw, even on sidelane it adds like 50% to ur mana pool for like 30 minutes or something its better than arcanes most of the time, unless your team needs the mana or something

the problem you run into is if your team has a mid who is bottle crowing. you will be hogging the courier between the two of you and your safelane will never see their items or you will be without the bottle for a while.
with heroes like clock and mirana, I personally prefer to wait until after my first big item to get a bottle if i'm finding that my mana regen is hurting my ability to return to farming after a team fight or something.
