Note that creeps count for desolate, so if he's hugging creeps you don't get to rape him

EDIT: Oh yeah, ur ulti illusions get full-damage desolate so it really helps your ulti be a contributor early game.

As in, obviously if its on the "dying" meepo he won't die, but what if it's on a meepo but not the one that gets killed?

A) Is maxing aura before wave of terror worthwhile in some scenario? Maybe when you're in a right-click heavy lineup? B) I usually max out magic missile, the stun doesn't scale much, but the damage/mana cost ratio seems nice. In general, is it better to max it or just throw in 1 point for the stun? ... I suppose it all depends on the line-up, but I'd like to here if you have any tips.

Is diffusal more important than manta on a midgame-fighting Spectre? Seems like the slow from the purge is a bit redundant if you already have phase drum + dagger. I want to try doing helm phase drum armlet manta, maybe going back for the diffusal before heart/butterfly. What do you think of that? If you agree it's better than just going phase drum diffusal manta, would it still be better if you were fighting a warlock whose golem you wanted to purge, etc? Is orb of venom worth it on such a build?

Is orb of venom worth it on such a build? depends how youre playing dazzle, but if hes hard supporting usually grave is maxed first, heal second. if youre roaming then you could opt for poison first heal 2nd, but i dont recommend this since it takes a lot of lvls to rely on poison properly as a ganking tool. diffusal is better than manta because of not only the purge, but the feedback. all your illusions get extra dmg on top of desolate, and it actually hurts. the utility through purge is much more useful early game when heroes are more easily brought down/lack items or spells to escape properly. lifesteal doesnt stack with diffusal so i dont recommend going back to diffusal if you ever get hotd on spec. armlet doesnt really suit spectre either, seeing as most of your dps comes from your ulti and other illusions and dispersion late game. your illusions dont benefit from the armlet active, so it doesnt really make sense to get armlet on spec when you could just something else. not to mention that helm+phase+drums+armlet is a lot of money invested into low tier items; by the time you finish all that youll probably be in your 25th minute and by then you normally want to be well on your way to a manta already, or another big item

My reasoning for manta over diffusal: diffusal effectively gives illusions 42 more damage and 22 more attack speed (level 1), for 4 illusions if you reality into the fight; manta gives your 4 illusions 26 damage and 41 attack speed, and your two extra illusions do your agl + 65 each from desolate (with 41 + agl attack speed). I haven't crunched dps numbers for some specific hypothetical level + items, but my intuition says that's more total dps. You also get 190 more hp to disperse damage with. Manta does cost more of course, but I think the pieces are more efficient in manta for farming/ganking. For 2000 gold working towards diffusal you get 20 damage and 20 attack speed, for 2050 gold (yasha) you get 16 damage and 31 attack speed. The extra 20 damage from manaburn is completely wasted on most creeps and towers, which are the things you're attacking most of the time.

if you're trying to fight on spectre go phase(treads?) drums diffusal manta since it has good buildup and the diffusal adds a lot more damage in teamfights with haunt, comes out faster than the manta does and gives you cc. Illusions dont do 100% damage, but they do from mana burn and desolate and radiance, which is why diffusal and rad are such popular and scary choices on spec.

The thing is, the brunt of Manta's usefulness is on the cost-effective Yasha. The subsequent 3k gold you pay isn't as compelling unless you need the Illusions really badly, which you typically don't. Also, racecar Spectre is really good--Phase+Drum+S&Y, then Diffusal and Heart.

Its certainly not the worst item to get on her, there are just many items that are better. If you want to farm between ultis get tranquil boots for the regen, dont waste 2600 when you can use 300 for the same purpose if you're trying to fight on spectre go phase(treads?) drums diffusal manta since it has good buildup and the diffusal adds a lot more damage in teamfights with haunt, comes out faster than the manta does and gives you cc. Aren't green boots still bugged on spectre? Last time I saw it illusions had it turned off immediately, making her ulti way less powerful.

I do understand how well spectre scales with HP, but thats the point of heart (to me). Manta illusions simply do too much damage to pass up. PS: TBH spectre illusions probably don't suffer that much from having broken-tranquils (still 425 MS plus drums/yasha boosts as applicable). Edit: On June 06 2013 00:21 Rodberd wrote: 1) is it just me or are the console-commands disabled since the latest patch? (cant display range etc) 2) i get more and more attracted by meepo, but since im usually support and quite abd at dota im afraid to play him ... is there some1 who could do sth like mentoring or such? 1) The range display was disabled since valve decided it was an unfair advantage or something. They aren't too good at communicating with the community. Either way, I don't think all console commands were disabled. Also, you can use the range display when cheats are enabled (so you can still use it to figure out ward vision radiuses etc). 2) Personally, I recommend you just spend a fair bit of time in practice lobbies (or playing vs bots) getting a grip on how to control the hero. Practice to see how fast you can hit lvl 16 or how fast you can farm an aghs (or both). Also practice poof-bombing (4 meepo's poofing onto the real one which blinks on opponents right before the poofs land). Really though, the easiest way to abuse meepo is to be good at jungling with him (which is decently APM intensive by the time you get a 3rd meepo if you are maintaining map awareness at the same time). However, if somebody wants to help you thats up to them (I'm a terrible meepo).

As far as combat stats go, the only cost effective part of Manta is yasha. The other 3k is spent on the ability to get illusions, which generally isn't that useful until later in the game when your illusions actually do damage and aren't paperweights. I'd say diffusal is still the better item if you need to be in fights or ganks
