Vision blocking spawns is a common misconception. It has nothing to do with whether you can see the spawn location or not, and everything to do with whether a unit or object of any kind (wards, courier, heroes, creeps, summons, albeit not dropped items) is within the vicinity. Yango has linked a nice picture showing the exact box that each neutral creep spawn location checks for this.

Does the language filter in search actually do anything? I mean, it -says- english, but for the amount of times I've had either only spanish/mandarin speakers talk to each other (and, half the time, scream at me for being n00b) I tend to get very frustrated because I can't communicate back at all.

I'd happily wait an extra two minutes for games if it meant I got to play with people who would at least make fun of me in my own language.

It probably does do something but any south american will just check english. From what my friends in peru/argentina/colombia tell me, the server routing in south america is completely crap and they actually get better ping on the USE and W.

if you're gonna make a 4 protect 1 line up, what should attributes, heroes, gameplay should you take into account?

i know the one should be a late game carry like AM, PL, Alche

Another important component is to have strong AOE spells to defend your towers with while the 1 splitpushes. The two most notable examples of this are probably KotL with Illuminate and Tinker with March spam.

Yes, this is called the "magic bush" (as in theres a little bush on the ground for where both camps can be blocked)

Though if you block both camps then it's super easy to deward since theres only one place where the block could be.

Oh, that makes sense I suppose. Though I figure that people on my level will just be confused and ignore it.

There's probably only a very narrow skill gap between where people know how to stack and pull and where people know to deward when their stacking isn't working due to camps being blocked

Watching LGD vs {A}, Loda on PA. Speaking of PA is it practical getting Phase/Drum in pub games where farm isn't so readily available? I usually go phase -> bfury+hotD

You can try to switch lanes (usually if your lane really sucks there will be another lane with easy farm). In pubs it's pretty common that supports don't actively try to secure you farm, so going for cheaper earlier items with which you can get kills is a good way of getting money and snowballing to your bigger items. I wouldn't rely too much on your team trying to give a carry farm in a pub.
That's the 2nd time in a week I've seen someone sig a quote from this GD and I have never witnessed a sig quote happen in my TL history ever before. -Najda

It's actually not, though.

You very often get terrible lanes with a partner competing for lasthits, and lategame the jungle is often cleared out by some random support looking for a scepter or something. Likewise any wave that's pushed to reasonable position. Plus you usually have twice the sensible number of farm-dependent heroes to begin with.

Not necessarily lane phase farm, but pubs are horrible at using farm efficiently. For example, all pubs overvalue lane farm, so jungle/ancient farm is always available once you are strong enough to do it.

As far as the original discussion--Phase Drums is BETTER when farm is hard to find, not worse. It gives you immediate combat power rather than requiring 2-3 big items to fight.

it really is; you can farm a 20 minute bfury off straight jungle on pretty much any hero. pa can literally stand in a lane and hit dagger to lasthit for a <20 minute bfury or bkb. unless your entire team is getting absolutely dominated there's no reason you shouldn't be able to farm at least one big item. phase drum is a good build if you plan to teamfight a lot, but it shouldn't be a backup plan

you're better off working on improving your mechanics first before working on your item builds. you're wondering what you should do if you can't farm a bfury or bkb when you should be wondering what you can do to improve your rate of farm so you can afford a bfury or bkb in a reasonable amount of time

what's the ideal Silencer build, iyo? I maxed 3 first, 1 second and maxed the orb last. It worked great for bullying the other mid player out of the lane but it didn't really help me secure any kills, though that may be because my sidelanes both won their lanes.

Silencer's Ulti is so damn strong, how isn't this guy picked more in the competitive scene? it's so fucking rape

and lastly, items on Silencer? I went Bottle/Treads/Force/Atos, everything after that was pretty much just dicking around. I bought a Hex eventually but I'm thinking that a Blink dagger would've helped a lot, forcestaff isn't enough mobility.

Necro's an option but it's...eh~. I guess, there's probably better stuff.
Shiva's Guard seems like the best go-to option, more int&armor
a mek would've helped a lot in retrospect, I was a pretty brittle mid.
Something for an attack speed would be nice...shadow blade?
