What, hex isn't more expensive than skadi. And it's way better for storm the role he fills as a hero. There are a lot of items that take priority over skadi, if you want HP go bloodstone.

I used to go arcane boots bloodstone, but with powerthreads , i find the buildup to bloodstone way too long,

skadi , not shivas

btw shivas is pretty good with sotrm too if no one gets one :D

Also bloodstone has an easier build-up than skadi and is cheaper and you can disassemble arcane boots into them. And then get ptreads.

as a personal preference i almost always get bloodstone first, i enjoy how the hero has very little base/ fountain time at all, always in the field and always remains a threat if you are able to get a few good ganks for charges

I asked this question before, and it seems treads->orchid is great for single target killing power / ganking, whereas arcane -> bloodstone is a lot more teamfight oriented (so in most cases, you should be able to make a judgment call ). Sheep would be a "middle-of-the-road" option since it provides a good single target disable but is also really useful in teamfights.
Going treads -> bloodstone just seems a little contradictory since your first big item isnt going to allow you to solo kill very easily, the treads attack speed is a bit wasted... plus your bloodstone is much slower.
|
Yeah, Synapse basically summed it up there. Orchid is solo killing and gank orientated, Bloodstone is team orientated, and BKB is very team (defensive) orientated.
If you rushed Orchid, at that point a defensive item should be your next choice. (Assuming semi-competent opponents) you will get melted in a fight. Normally I'd go with a BKB after Orchid then into Sheep.

arcane > bloodstone is not very good for teamfights, it's a farming item bkb and hex are much stronger teamfight items orchid is if you wanna solo kill stuff

There should always be a reason for the items that you buy, A way to understand what item you should get and why you should first look at what the other team has and what they are likely to build and how there likely to act.
There is no genral item build, you should build based on the other team.

Hey, I play suicide lane for my team, and get absolutely dismantled by silencer. How do I lane against this guy without being destroyed? Do I just buy 5758562927 sets of tangos or something?

Past the fact that silencer is actually banned from CM Mode, If situations are Ideal you would want to lane a hero that can easily remove his last words and preferably has some form of good escape mechanic.

Opening tranguils would be a lot better than buying a million tangos. Best way to deal with silencer is ganking him though. You can't really stand toe to toe with an orb walker, especially if he has supports.

So which hero can remove last word? Weaver I guess.
Also, we practice in pubs, where he's everywhere.

As Visage, what should you be doing with your familiars? They seem to do decent damage but they're so fragile and give 100 gold when they die... If I leave them out as spotters or use them to scout, it's pretty much free gold for the opponent team. Right now, I sort of just have them hang back and just send them in for team fights to hopefully get some stuns off, but they get killed so easily by any kind of splash.

I think as a 5man stack (or rather, a team), queuing CM isn't that bad of an idea assuming que times aren't terrible. Don't have to deal with Silencer there.

I could write an essay...
but I settle for a short list:
-after you reach level 6, move around with familiars and kill any hero you get close enough -scout/deny runes -deward highground -if you die, keep assisting allies with them, farm a buyback if you need one, move them where you are going to tp after you respawn -in teambattles burst down any hero you can and use the stun on the rest. -and much more
At this point I start to feel like you might learn something from this but most likely you dont. You learn much more from gameplay footage than reading lists or walls of text on the internet.
Too bad the is not really that much Visage gameplay available. Dota-academy shows 14 competitive matches played and only about 3 vods.
My source for Visage gameplay is..well..me. https://dotabuff.com/players/20268233/matches?game_mode=&hero=visage&match_type=real I currently have 134 matches played as Visage in semi-highish level(400 wins). Mostly solo qued or played with one friend pubs. IF anyone is interested in Visage gameplay, there you can find some success, some fails, stomps both ways and my progress mastering Visage.

Not strat question, but is there a way go have the client open in native resolution? I play on a laptop that has 16-9 native but I also plug that laptop in to a monitor that's 16:10 so I have to change resolution every time I play (well I don't have to, but I like native resolution). Just wondering if there's a good way to do this, perhaps with autoexec file. Not the biggest deal, but the picking screen doesn't change resolutions until a client restart and sometimes my game crashes when I change resolution so ite's quite annoying.

Not 100% sure, but because the silence/damage happens after the cast, spells that make you invulnerable avoid damage from Last Word (e.g. Faceless is invulnerable during Time Walk).

is there any way to have camera controls such as hotkeying a certain area of the map on a hot-f-key? i'd like to be able to do that so i can check other lanes, runes, wards setup.
