like when i want to notify allies to come close for arcane, i have to rightclick them, drag down and select alert. totally uncomfy, takes forever and mouse and focus are out of position. so, i would prefer to hit 1 button and the "grouphug fro arcane here"-ping goes down. | ||

There are situations that call for Treads, but Viper generally needs the mobility for chasing/disengaging/re-engaging. There are a lot of different ways to itemize Viper, so it's hard to call out one particular build as straight-up bad. One of the more common Chinese styles is to build heavily defensive items (something like Urn->Janggo->Heart) and then transition onto half-defensive, half-offensive items after that, once your defenses are sufficient (Manta, Butterfly, AC). The intent is to be able to absorb the first round of spells, due to having high defensive stats, and Corrosive Skin, and then be able to disengage, and then re-engage with Heart regen or Urn healing to clean up the fight. The stand-out problems with your item choices are that S&Y isn't all that good on him (Manta fits the hero much better since he doesn't need the maim at all), and Linken's involves a lot of wasted stats for him (since he has virtually no use for the mana regen component). | ||

Phase boots are great on him, good situational items include: Heart, Manta, Butterfly, Drums, Hood, Pipe, Aghanim, AC, S&Y if your goal is to get heaven's halberd and manta, sometimes BKB and sometimes daedalus or MKB. I can't really give you a set in stone build for him, but you want surviveability, i usually build my viper according to the enemy team, but i very often get drums because he benefits so nicely from the added chasing power, and early vit booster is also nice and against most teams a hood of defiance gives you the hp regen you need ontop of massive surviveability, and upgrading into a pipe is great if your team needs it. Heaven's halberd has obvious uses and so does manta, butterfly is great later on for added DPS and surviveability granted that you're not building HH and heart is just an all around amazing item on viper. BKB can be good but very situational IMO, mkb is great if you need the true strike and daedalus is great for good DPS. Aghanim is decent if you're going for a ton of early fights and you can get it after your boots + a small item like vit booster or so. I wouldn't personally recommend getting aghanim after another big item. S&Y can work if you're planning to rush HH and manta, but just going straight for one over the other might be better. AC also adds good suviveability and decent damage output. Edit: God damn ninjas. Edit2: Oh and occasionally mekansm can work if you have nobody else to get it in your team, adds good surviveability. | ||
