Question: Can you use smoke of deceit to avoid Sniper's ultimate?

Yes if you cast it while the projectile is already in the air. No if you cast it while he's still channeling it.

sorry for another question: (going into VS and theorycrafting a bit more and there I stumble across some questionmarks): - I noticed yesterday in a (lowskill) game, that VS ditches out also a very nice amount of dmg, is she considered also a semi-carry? so if things go well in the early/mid game and we lead by a 2:1 ration in kills I can go more for dmg and play as a dmg-dealer? - If I swap with an enemy, can I shift-queue for example forcestaff? and with that: does the direction I face change while swaping? Also, if I want to play VS more as a semi-carry instead of a full-scale supporter, is shadowblade queue'ing after swaping a very efficient escape mechanism? (at least my mind said its really good) - Can I swap with a faceless void under his ulti, making it impossible for him to deal dmg to cought heros?
Thanks in advance

Yes, yes Yes, you ll force yourself toward the direction you swapped, shadowblade best item Yes, but it's wise only if he's soloing your team, else it would be smarter to swap the most important hero on your team so they can do something.

The reason why you can't get Blink Dagger on Pudge/VS in DotA (not DotA2) is to make very hard to put people on inescapable places.
In WC3 DotA:
Force staff can't push to inescapable places (it'll stop in front or will go to the other side). Skills like Telekinesis or Vacuum can't target inescapable places. Skills like Skewer, Cogs or Flamebreak always stop in front. etc, etc.
All of the realistic ways to put someone uphill needs cooperation between two heroes (for example, blink dagger user + tiny or venge).
You could say "tiny could blink up, put a necro unit, blink down, and then toss to the necro unit". But even that's not possible, because Tiny can't target his own units with toss.

It is possible to use Panda ulti in wc3dota and have one of the pandas roll up on the hill near runes, did that by accident once , was a really sad panda :C I think I tested it on other split based spells, but mostly for putting stuff into trees that are otherwise inaccessible. Fun times splitting your naga siren into the trees when preparing for a gank -.-

Yes if you cast it while the projectile is already in the air. No if you cast it while he's still channeling it. It's actually not the case right now, I think due to a bug and an intended fix.
The bug: smoke doesn't disjoin projectiles like it's supposed to in DotA 1: http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=21695
The intended fix: Sniper ult isn't dodged by invisibility. http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=58587

Motivated by watching Tobi cast The Defense at the moment:
What happens if Rubick steals Eclipse? Considering that he has no levels in Lucent Beam, will it do damage? Does it do damage based on Luna's level of Lucent Beam?

If I'm corrent basically any spell you steal has the exact same effects than when used by the hero.

Yeah it should, went to test just for fun and it seems to be the case

Yeah, just wasn't sure because it's the only spell I can think of where the spell effect is based on leveling a different spell entirely. If you replaced "Luna" with "Rubick" in the spell tool-tip, it wouldn't do any damage because Rubick doesn't have Lucent Beam.
Gameplay-wise, though, it would make sense to use the Luna's level of Lucent Beam at the time Eclipse is stolen to calculate damage. The best part of Rubick is stealing sick ults man.

Other examples would be SF ulti and DP ulti. Also the worst spell to steal BY FAR is NS ulti. :D

Misuse of hook can also end hilariously. Many new rubicks look at pudge and say "wow if only I could steal that hook I could do so much!" and then they dont think about how pudge is built to take advantage of the hook and rubick is not.
iv seen a lot of rubick die because they manage to catch a pudge with his own hook. Because if theres anything you want standing right next to you as a squishy int hero, its a pudge.

On the flip side, hook is a great initiating tool. It would be a fool Rubick to play as a Pudge and hide in the trees hoping to kill a squishy, but if you're trying to break high-ground or take a tower, pulling someone into your team can win a teamfight. His instant cast animation also makes it easier to hit hooks in my opinion (along with fissures, ice path, etc.) but I suppose that's personal preference...if you are used to hooking with Pudge your timing will be a little bit off.
And heh, I'd never thought about how terrible NS ulti would be to steal. Would probably be a difficult one to steal anyways, because if it's night and you're that close to a NS, the Rubick is probably dead anyways.
