before, Japan and SEA servers showed as lowest pings of 80~90ish now Japan has gone up to 130+ and SEA to 75. It says I have 75~80 ms ingame and no packet loss but unless I'm crazy I feel like I'm playing on 300+ ping. I tried pinging the valve servers manually from cmd and it shows the same as in-game. you could do a tracert to the server to see if the routing is bad or something I tried it but I have no idea how to make sense of this stuff. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had everything 'showing' as normal in terms of ping/packet loss but when you play, you feel for sure that something is terribly wrong. You can try lowering your interp, but it shouldn't affect it by that much unless some weird values got put in. One possibility is if it got set to low quality network in the config.

I think I found the problem.
My mouse was dying, it didn't register the majority of the clicks... the clicking felt the same so I blamed lag. This happened to me in a match once. Super triggering. Went to desktop and right click doesn't work most of the time. Explains why I felt everything was fine except when actually playing DotA.
Case closed. Need mouse (brand) recommendations.

I like the Logitech G302/G303 (they're almost the same, G303 supports higher DPI) a lot if that's the style of mouse you're after.
I like(d) the Razer Abyssus, but it's annoying theres no 4th and 5th buttons. I rarely use them actually, but it's still nice to have them for things like voice comms or chat wheel.

I was using Razer Abyssus for the past 2-3 years now. The one that broke recently is my 4th or 5th model so I'm fed up with this low lifespan model. Even though I hated it at first, I've gotten used to them but one thing I've always hated was the texture of Razer mice. Maybe I'm generalizing but at least the Abyssus felt really sticky(?) and too rubbery even after all those thousands of hours.
Basically I don't use any side buttons. I just need a minimalistic mouse with left/right click and scroll.
I ended up ordering the Logitech G402. Jerax uses G302 series. I can't use those. Definitely not for me. I realized I probably would choose a model I've at least tried once anyway so my initial request for recommendations ended up being pointless :p but thanks anyway!

i use a logitech g700, has served me well for over 4 years now

Yeah whichever model suits you best is fine. In general the Logitech mice seem pretty solid.
I was lucky and my Abyssus lasted pretty long, but eventually it started double clicking on single clicks. Though once I moved it to another computer running OSX it worked fine so who knows.

I still have an MX518. The original and the greatest.
It's finally dying after like 10 years though. I'm really gonna struggle to find a replacement. You know you got your money's worth when you have to google three iterations of "successor to..." before you find one that's in production.
Considering the 303 or the 402. 402 would be perfect except I hate the style. Mice should look like mice, not spaceships.

I went from MX510 (the more original and more greatester) to MX518. I tried a lot of mice (Razer, Steelseries, Logitech, etc), all the laser mice feel awful to me.
I got a G400s after my 3rd MX518 died. It's a slightly better MX518 I feel. I still use it at work (which often involves playing games since I work in gamedev).
I use a G402 as my primary mouse right now. I think it's probably the best mouse I've used.
A really useful review of the G402: + Show Spoiler +

new ver. of razer abyssus fits the bill for minimalism. real oldschool cs and sc player myself so extra buttons and extra size or weight was a real nono for me. the first version of the abyssus were great too, but razer.
new design is fine and robust

Logitech G302 here, great for someone who doesnt care about having 1000 buttons and mouse looking like it could fly by itself, only 5 buttons+ DPI changer, small and not that fancy looking. Also fairly cheap for gaming mouse.
|
Maybe I'll bite the bullet and get a 402 as well, then.
I still think it's in the "looks like it's trying to fly" category itself, but there are definitely worse offenders.
|
Idk I found the G302 a pretty reasonable shape, I was maybe a bit skeptical at first but it really fit my hand as well as the Abyssus. I bet the 402 is similar.

I agree, luckily it's covered by my hand most of the time so I don't have to look at it much

if shadow fiend winds up his ult while invoker casts some spells before it's conclusion (lets say sun strike and meatball), then SF ult goes off while the spells are still in the air but have not connected..do the spells get the 50% damage reduction?
or do they not because they were cast before the SF ult went off and they were already in flight
|
SF Ult only reduces attack damage, it's not a general damage reduction.

My G402 arrived today!
Feels nice. I think I could get used to this in a few days time. The scroll is smooth and I've already disabled all the side buttons except 1 for Scans!
Something more on topic, since when did hex stop removing damage block? Was this when hex stopped removing evasion?
|
Yeah when IceFrog introduced break as a named mechanic, he took all of it's effects off of hex. So yeah, the same time hex stopped taking off evasion and all other passives.

i love my g402. i use the side buttons for push to talk stuff, personally. have you experimented with the weights on the bottom to get your mouse just right?

Are you sure it comes with adjustable weights? I don't think it does.
