Ok I see, the other players having a lower unranked MMR seems plausible, I just had my 4.7k NP cliff jungling radiant ancients lvl 1 (we were Dire) which made me look at his profile which I never really did before in unranked

Sometimes people really don't give a damn in unranked tbh. So ranked mmr doesn't mean jack.

I agree.

I'm 5k ranked and when i play unranked I mostly:
1-Try new heroes or combos
2-Experience builds
3-Play odd lanes
4-Have fun and not try much
5-get matched with 3ks A LOT.


Thats probably because I havent played unranked much compared to ranked and as people have said you tend to "LAG" in one of the two MMRs you have, because you usually main one queue.

Anyway you should think too much of a 4k NP cliffjunging, since he CAN WELL GET TO 4k by just cliffjunging.

He can do better than that due to his circumstances, since the highest MMR he ever sees in Ranked is lower than the lowest MMR he sees in unranked. If it were an issue of junk MMR, but without any actual skill skew between his two sets of opponents, he'd see errors in both directions in unranked games; he'd frequently be matched with or against players with much lower MMR than his own.

I'm trying to increase my party mmr, and I've been doing ranked party a lot to raise it.

Was there anything that I did that was just terrible and easy to solve?

In terms of design space you'd be really limited by how strong silence could be if it also silenced passives. Heroes like Wraith King, Abbadon and Viper would be really sad if some of these 5-6 second silences basically muted them as heroes for the duration.

I mean, the short "why" is that "thats how it was in WC3". The more advanced version is that variable-utility disables that function better or worse depending on the hero it's used on (silence basically deletes qop but does nothing to a bloodseeker) allow for more interesting design space as you can have a 6 second instant-cast silence as a strong counter to certain heroes without it being overwhelmingly too good overall.

It's not just WC3, but also just how people generally expect the "silence" state to work from other games.

Silence disabling passives would be unintuitive because what other game in which the silence debuff exists does it disable passives? The intuitive gaming understanding of "silence" is "prevents spellcasting", and there's no reason to change this unless there's a significant improvement to gameplay on a fundamental level.

even from an 'rpg' standpoint, silences literally mean that, when cast upon you, your character is unable to say anything in order to cast their spells..so they can't use them.

any 'natural' qualities of the character would still be available as a result since they are innate instead of uttered/conjured through specific words/phrases spoken out loud.
