Lotus is way better against delay/projectile shit that they have to commit to casting before you have to use the Lotus Orb.

Against instant/no-projectile spells, you have to skirt the line between casting it too early and having them just use their spells on someone else or not having the time to react to Blink+instant cast spell.

Also, even if the active is great, the buildup is still shit.

sometimes it feels difficult because the ranged creep is like centered behind all 3 melee creeps though (and gets blocked when you block the melee in front of it and doesn't overtake it)

In the fountain, with the courier, at the shops, everywhere. I'll be able to buy it but immediately it unbuys it and says I don't have enough gold, although I definitely have enough. After a few attempts it sometimes buys it, sometimes it simply refuses.

What happened to 4 clovers and leprechaun in the open qualifiers? I see that they are a notable team in the liquipedia, but I don't see any of their match results.

I assume they lost, but did they lose before the round of 64?

They lost to HBL. Don't recall if it was in 128 or 64.

When should I skip Vlads on AM? I like the item a lot on the hero, getting it before Manta. My rule of thumb is, if my BF is early enough (~15 min?) I get Vlads. But I really don't know when or if I should skip Vlads.

If you need another item at a certain timing I would say. Think about facing heroes with orchid or long silences without manta. Say Clinkz gets a decent timed orchid, vlad isn't going to save your life.

if your team needs more space, get vlads for faster pushing. bonus points if you have more melee damage dealers in your team too.
if you need to fight asap, go straight for manta
note that if you need to push faster but they have orchid/silence users or instagib heroes, you still need to go manta first unless you got your items so quick that they dont have their core items yet.

so in conclusion manta is gotten first in most games because usually you are required to fight earlier or survive split pushing attempts more. in the rare cases where you dont need either and you need pushing speed only, just go vlads.
vlads isnt good to carry in a full slotted am anymore though, so you have to make a decision on whether you really need an item right now to make a difference in your pushes. if your next item isnt so urgent, just go manta->heart/bfly/abyss/bkb

beesa(chunderboy) says if you can farm perfectly with AM .. the timing difference of rushing manta over getting vlads before manta is just 2 minutes

so i assume there's probably rarely a reason to skip it

Thanks for the replies to my question regarding Vlads. I wasn't that far off. And no, I don't consider Vlads an item when six-slotted. What I like is what it gives to my team (when the enemy team is aggressive early) and the fact that I can come to fights with full HP due to life steal off creeps. I like to keep it for quite a long time though.

The heroes that you'd actually really need a Manta against are the ones you wouldn't be able to farm perfectly against though (e.g. an Orchid Storm or QoP) since you'd be making concessions in greed for more safety, so that timing difference would get widened out.
