We got nearly 8 feet of snow since January, which is like 4 times our annual snowfall in the span of less than 30 days. The problem wasn't the snow itself, but the volume and the fact that we have no place to put it. My commute today was 2 hours because we have mostly one way roads where my firm is.
I've spent the majority of the weekends for the last month moving snow off my roof and sheds. I don't need my roof to collapse.

So places where it rains rarely have mega-slick roads when it actually does rain.
I've heard phoenix is a disaster when it rains rofl. http://jimbakkershow.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/phoenixflooding.jpg
This is from 3-5 inches in most areas. That's a major highway completely underwater. At least I got a free day off work. :D

its a fucking disaster no one knows how to drive in the rain and everything floods because storm drains are too hard to make apparently

I remember a street near me still having a 2 meter high piles of snow in early June like 2 years ago, because over winter they had to move it from their driveways and the houses there are particularly narrow so they compacted 4 meters wide of snow into a 1 meter space and spring was particularly cold that year. It was a rather surreal experience

One of my clients is in Texas and had to work from home because they had an ice storm. They literally have no road salt in that state or the ability to put it on the road if they did.
|
It's not about it being hard to prevent that, it's about it being cheaper to write off a couple of days a year than snow proof an entire state.
|
Yeah, I agree. I just think its funny when people from different regions are like "Why are you people worried about snow/heat/hail/fires, we have that all the time?" None of that shit is hard to deal with, its just that its not worth it to be prepared for the one ice storm a year.

It's also fun to be all superior about not caring about harsh weather. Fucking US stole all of my snow >
|
You can have it, this shit is going to be a nightmare for PAX. We are considering staying in the city with friends just so we don't have to travel.

You've literally stolen my only winter workout. I am getting fat, the purpose of my life is gone, the future is gloom and my mind is withering. And all of this because you took my snow.

all 3 of our local ski mountains have been on standby for weeks because of lack of snow LOL

It's funny hearing about all these snow storms in places that don't usually have them this year since there wasn't much snow where I live this year. Cold as fuck, but no snow. A lot more annoying if you ask me.

Calgary was mild most of the time and in general quite a bit less snow than average
