that's not the formats fault that was the the scheduling terror .. i seriously hated how the first day determines the first grand finals that was a hype killer
also since it's already "the biggest tournament of the year" why not keep the "kill or be killed" motif of that event .. it should be different from other tournaments

Well for the players sure cause half the teams get crushed and not even gonna make it to the main event. Maybe the audience too since they won't see their favorite teams play out the main event but does that really matter cause the shit teams and the teams that has a lot of fanboys but not really good would only be able to play 1 to 2 series anyways unless they got lucky in the bracket
The format gives the "world championship" vibes that it's a tournament of the year that's it's not the payday tournament but rather a tournament where everybody has to work so hard. It's a "kill or be killed " thing since it's the biggest tournament of the year why not make it the hardest and the most threatening one. Not just a event with a lot of money but still the same as other tournaments.
Actually if you want everybody to play the main stage since it's gonna end up another massive tie's with the decent teams if they play the bubble race on the stadium i think i'd be the same and not different from the normal bracket in terms of enjoyment. Not to mention they maintain the hype of the tournament.
I think people are just upset last year cause ehem ALMOST ALL WESTERN FAVORITES GOT ELIMINATED.

I think that was just schedule and the teams that got eliminated (lol everybody wants their alliance fnatic mouz w/e into the main event don't get me wrong i was an alliance fanboy back then cause s4 and i was really upset too) why it sucked last year. And the not so fun finals did not help at all.
If they put the bubble bracket as a stadium event i think i'd be fine.

at ti3 the max number of games you could have played in the group stages was 14
the top8 team with the worst group stage record was TL and they went 7-7 in group stages (1 win away from making it to upper bracket)
