Pretty much this. They are a sub group within the Republicans that gained a lot of power and prominence after we elected a black president. Its weird, its almost like all these people came from other groups that got together once that happened.

In Poland it's the other way round, the opposition says that if they get elected , they will give more money to all sorts of people and professional groups, but they never say where will the money come from, since the budget certainly won't be able to cover such additional expenses. The best part about the Tea Party is that they promised to cut the government spending, but then can't do it without screwing over their own state and not getting re-elected. Texas opted out of a section of the Affordable Care Act out of protest because the black president championed it. And now all their hospitals are at risk of going bankrupt because they don't receive enough money to function. Now they need to cut spending, but to do that they need to turn critically injured people away from emergency rooms. And they can't do that because they are required to treat people who are dying or critically injured by law.
See, this is why politics is stupid.

I mean I can't see how you could argue Teaparty as being anythign but republican in a literal sense, considering you know they get funding from the GOP and are listed as republican. They are just changing what constitutes as being a republican is.
fuck the teaparty.

when they run for president there will only be one candidate between the tea party and the republican party on the ballot, hence they are the same party.

All politics is pretty dumb and the amount of money that politicians make through 'political gifts' and 'campaign funding' is the best joke of all.

fuck the teaparty. they actually dont get much funding from the GOP itself most of their money comes from private pacs. no way mitch mcconell would allow GOP money to be given to a candidate that wont vote with the party as a bloc.

But more often than not, its about how stupid we are.

This. But of course, right now in Poland we have some idiots saying that we should change the system to be like to ones in the UK or the US, saying it will "give power back to the people". No, it won't, it will only solidify our democracy as a two-party system where there is no real left-wing alternative to the two biggest right-wing parties (PO and PiS).

There are a lot of Republicans who hate the Tea Party and wished they had not thrown their lot in with them during the midterm elections back in Obama's first term. But they grabbed the tiger's tail and now they are stuck.
