The cast was just on EE's stream I think. Originally it was EE and Fata but then Fata disappeared for some reason and Bone joined in

People just have diferent ideas of justice. But whoever made that law did it because they thought it was a just thing to fine people for singing.
Just because they put stupid or corrupt people in charge of making laws doesn't mean the whole idea behind laws isn't justice. It's like saying the point of police isn't to protect people just because a few policeman don't. yet you cannot substantiate various laws with the concept of justice, and these statutes aren't even archaic or 'wrong'
take fishing limitations - in what way is these laws 'just'? who are you being fair to? the fish? our progeny that may not have the chance to eat these fish? the environment?
the stupid laws i mentioned were supposed to be a hyperbole so that the point could be conveyed more easily.
there are a multitude of laws made for a very specific arbitrary reason and not all of it distributes justice. some are made to protect the populace and others are made as safeguards or hedges against future mishaps and still others are made to address a certain problem that only exist in a particular paradigm of culture in a specific time. I'm not suggesting that laws are unneeded or whatever; laws are only a means to an end and that end may not always be 'justice'.

As I said before, the legal system can overturn laws.

doesn't crush have an 8s cd?

right, so the purpose of the laws sometimes preclude 'justice' that's my entire argument: laws don't always distribute justice.

And laws are not the legal system, they are just part of it. The system is built around the idea that some laws will be stupid, flawed and will need to be refined or changed. The system also takes into account human error, bias and incorrect interpretations of law. You are pointing one aspect of the system and claiming that isn't purpose isn't the goal of the entire system.

but i'm not talking about the entire judicial system, i'm talking about the legislature or legal code that underlies it. i agree that the purpose of the judicial system is to distribute justice and it does so with decent effectiveness, but laws themselves are not created to do the same thing.

Why not just play centaur? All the fun of slardar with like half the problems?
|
This whole thing started with something finding it strange that laws and justice were the same word in a certain language. It's more about the abstract concept of both laws and justice and how they are connected than how a few laws out of thousands can be weird or how some people abuse the legal system thousands of years after the words were born.
