As for armed civilians in the US, I guess any invader would have to wipe out the civilian population on the conquered parts of the country just not to have to deal with a reasonably armed militia forces. Come to think of it, conventional warfare on a large scale (like WW2) just seems to be no longer a practical approach to war nowadays especially when it comes to developed countries. We are entering the age where quality actually beats quantity. | ||

That is not how modern warfare works. Its kind of like how some crackpot politicians in Finland talk about mobilizing in case of a war with Russia. When the US or Russia go to war they long-range strike any and everything that even looks remotely like a military target or even resistance, after that they just steamroll you. There is no way any country bordering the US, Russia, China could every put up a resistance. Manpower means very little in modern warfare unless you've got the tech to back them up. Second, please have no illusions that populations in western Europe or America would go full guerrilla warfare Vietnam style. There are riots and looting when the internet goes out for 12 hours, but I guess thats is all moot because no one is ever going to get to land-invade mainland USA. | ||
