I dunno, I think if a game has bad gameplay, its life is on the line anyways. You can only keep a game interesting for so long with shitty gameplay (though, admittedly, it does last a long time).
I think SC2 could have been a pretty good game even with its easy mode macro / micro mechanics, but not the way sc2 was balanced / designed. And it would always have been a worse game than BW imo.

I mean the last time I really paid a lot of attention to an LR thread was DAC and I'm sure there was a vocal minority bashing them but on the whole I feel like comments were mostly just about the game + some compliments about winteR lol
I guess we don't really have the bipolar nature of reddit with bashing but also with shoutout threads.

I don't know if the USM scene would have ever taken off in SC2. This is the era of tons of free games and cheap steam games. One of the reasons I played them was because I was young, poor and didn’t have the ability or option to get new games instantly on my PC. The era of the USM might have just passed.

I've connected me raging to reading reddit to the point that I'm getting better about hiding threads and just ignoring it. Can't imagine what it would be like to use the site if I was a caster or other community member. Like you just see random hating on various people upvoted all the time.

This Aui_2000 interview on Dota Today is so good. Confirmed comeback mechanic needs tweeking, but he gets why it is there. Plus he admits to being a lazy bum and that PPD sometimes stumbles into amazing combos like Naga/Ax(since patched out).
