We've been having a really nice winter for the last few weeks in Poland, lots of snow. Really nice change of pace from the last year, when we had like 1 day of snow and instead of winter there was 3 months of drought basically.

Yeah the snow is great. So much brighter, if I free the angled Windows from the icy splendor.
Also it's super sunny here and as the days get longer, there's almost enough light to have a nice walk after work!

But I try n have a midday walk in the son, which I did today. Was great, though minus 6 is quite cold, absolutely doesn't feel like that in the sun without wind.

NYC has had two giant snows in the past like 2 weeks - most snow we've had since I moved here I believe.

I figure if I'm gonna pick a time to be snowed I might as well be snowed in during the pandemic lol

I guess it's because americans already celebrate Fat Tuesday and a lot of the polish immigrants where like "eh, close enough"

I'm still struck by the gargantuan portions coupled on affordable prices for food that Americans have. I recall visiting The Henry Ford Museum years ago and marvelling at the mac n' cheese that could have fed like three people for only $5 (something in that price range I can't exactly recall), or how a medium size McDonalds coffee in the U.S. is about a large in Canada. Naturally, I also saw more bloated bellies on men and people in mobility scooters for obesity than I see on an average day in Canada.

A few of my friends went on a trip to the NYC area a couple of years back and they said the amount of fat people is mind boggling there (compared to Poland)

US obesity rate is 40% now. (I blame corn subsidies, though other things have some responsibility).

Britain is catching up though at 31%.

It's such a weird time in human history - never before has being thinner been correlated to being richer (obesity rates go down as you get richer).

I used to be worryingly thin, then I purposely over ate and over shot have had issues losing weight to a nice middle ground. (I've gone up and down about 70 pounds 2 times in my life, but I was younger). Only got a workout setup in my house in November, which has helped some.
