And the only ones regulating it are tech giant executives, who are basically untouchable and the public has no oversight over them whatsoever. Not sure that's better or worse than no regulation, but neither is good, that I am sure of.

I wouldn't describe TheEmulator as a "tech giant executive" but I agree that there is no oversight
Legislation to regulate the ability of social media companies to moderate content/users is probably going to run into serious property rights issues in the united states. If someone makes an account on a service that you own/pay for, then you have the right to deny them service just as if they were in your house and you wanted to remove them.
I kinda doubt that a 6-3 conservative court is going to favor regulations that seem to abridge property rights

Changing topics, it would be great if the sadboys roster with Fear and PPD became good, I'm gonna follow their progress

I know very little about stocks trading and short selling, but from what I can surmise, some hedge funds got memed out by Redditors pumping money into GameStop, which doesn't have long to live as a company probably. Now the stocks world is in a tizzy about online communities doing this again.

also, all the subreddits with funny things from social media are nowadays just US politics on twitter, sad

Dunno, all these Wallstreetbets and Gamestop news are quite funny to me.
|
lol robinhood has stopped trades on gamestop. Goddamn hilarious. There's gonna be some ridiculous fallout from this when it's all said and done.
|
Twitter users are posting screenshots of robinhood forcing them to sell shares. Could be fake news I can't tell any more.

The U.S. just had four very eventful Wednesdays in a row. The 6th was the Capitol storming, the 13th was Trump's second impeachment, the 20th was Biden's inauguration, and the 27th was when the GME short really reached the public consciousness.
|
It's shaping up to be either a really great pattern or a holy hell everything is on fire pattern and I'm not sure which it's gonna be at this point.
|
TBH I think Corona plays a huge role in this GME story. People are bored out of their minds now and are thirsty for something other than Trump memes and Corona news all the time. The feeling of community feels great because almost everybody who grew up in the past 20 years can identify as the David in this story. Sticking it to the big guys is a dream many had anyways. Hell, I am a very risk averse person (a so called "pussy") and think about buying some GME.
Anyways, TOGETHER APE STRONG makes me think the WSB guys are doing it for harambe.

People in Chile are "canceling" Michael Scott for being a bad boss
This is quite amusing, as people came in horde to defend him
these newer generations take everything way too serious, which is fine but not everything needs to be serious lol
|
are they going to cancel friends and himym for having such pieces of shit for characters ?
|
I'd think that if anything Jim would be the one getting cancelled as he essentially bullies others for being 'weird'
