I'd put it this way:
Both have an aoe-spell that deals the MORE DAMAGE IN A 1ON1 SITUATION.
Both have a stun with a VARIABLE DURATION depending on how you hit the target.
Both have an escape mechanism that ALSO has an AOE-EFFECT on use.
Ults are completely different obviously. But what other heroes have skills with the bolded aspects, yet alone more than one of them?
edit: To the post below this: I wanted to say that I think they have similar skills, but not that they are no other similar heroes.

Similar roles =/= Similar skill kits.
I don't think their kits are similar.
Also, invoker has all 3 things as well.
Sunstrike, cold snap and ghost walk.

The difference is ofc one is INT and other AGI, but the roles they fulfill is pretty similar: antipush, hard to gank, unreliable but very long stun.

Just wanted to share a game that i felt was really great

me, kiett, lovedrop and flamewheel + 1 random pub playing against radiant, we get owned for like 50+ minutes, but we dont give up. watch the last 10 minutes or so if you want to see the highlight part... but man, 2 teamfights to turn around a nearly lost game. i love dota.

That's not what i said. I just said he theoretically has that kit too.
I just don't think their kits are as similar as some people do, it's just a clash of opinion, it's not like i'm saying others are wrong for thinking differently, thus why i said that I DON'T THINK THEY ARE SIMILAR, instead of THEY AREN'T SIMILAR.
