Champion = Hero Turret = Tower MOBA = DotA Minion = creep You can't jungle with as many heroes in Dota as you can in LoL. "Tanking up" is less part of the meta in Dota. Also there aren't really any "Tank" heroes (maybe Axe and Tide). I get the feeling that towers deal less damage in Dota than in LoL. When people jungle, they expect to get the creep camp they're working on on their own. There is no buff gained from killing specific creeps. Instead of the Dragon from LoL there is Roshan, who gives 200 gold to every party member AND drops an item, the Aegis, which lets the holder ressurect immediately and in the same place the next time they die. The aegis expires if unused after 10 minutes, and Roshan only comes back every 10 minutes. I'm not a LoL player but those seem to be some of the big things.

I wouldnt be surprised if they start to make MMR cap by level: if you are below level 2 you are forced to stay in low MMR for example.

I'll be sure to read as much as i can while the game is installing. ![]()

And the towers do not show the radius of where they shoot (so have to learn the distance). But there are many in-game mechanics that one should learn as well. @_Book http://www.playdota.com/guides/welcome-to-dota-you-suck I liked this guide, it does help quite a bit and it is pretty straight forward. It will help quite a bit, although it is a bit of a read.

I always loved being the AD carry when i played LoL, so i was thinknig of sticking with that in this game if i can. So i was thinking of starting out my first few games asthe Drow Ranger since the guide you linked recommends that as a Hero/Champion to start with.

Picture yourself in a LoL match and you go up against a rammus, a shaco, and an akali. three mediocre to poor characters in competitive play however, you don't know what they do, and subsequently get destroyed by them and cost your team the game. thats going to be you in dota, because close to 3/4 the characters in dota have the ability to completely make you feed if you don't know what they do and engage them poorly.

Ideally you can spend your first couple days just going through and playing every hero in the game for 10 minutes against bots. Use cheats to get max level and try out each skill a couple times. Best way to learn imo but will take some time.

I wouldnt be surprised if they start to make MMR cap by level: if you are below level 2 you are forced to stay in low MMR for example. The reason for this is usually because of player availability. Because of this they take into account your teams MMR versus there, thus if you are a high mmr, can end up with a lot of low tier to compensate for your team. This happens to me all the time which is why I hate solo queuing a lot.

This is only if you max out her orb first, if you only get 1 level in the orb to harass and focus on stats or aura, its pretty easy to last hit. If you like playing ranged carries I would say play one that doesnt require a ton of farm like clinkz, you have a great escape, you have a super easy last hit cos of +damage orb and if you're new, the other team will be new and not know how to deal with invis easily. Sort of like playing the old twitch in LoL.
