It still cracks me up how he dared to say that he poured years of his life into the community only to realize how he gave the very same community a big "F-U". Must be obvious to him now that he long since burned the bridge to the DotA community. Not that is matters now since he has a new community to be a part of. LoL community hates him too, though, lol. Guy must be real suave.

Regarding s4's stream: we are aware and are trying to list him. His current stream on TL links to the wrong twitch stream (s4dota instead of s4) and it seems only admins can edit it. As for his resolution/bitrate being too high, that is a Twitch function and not our own. I would guess he has only recently started streaming again and Twitch have not gotten round to partnering him yet. he's not partnered yet and he was actively trying to fix the lag problem yesterday, he started the stream on 1080p

I remember reading somewhere (long long time ago) that in DOTA2 heroes will have both names and titles in the end, i wonder if it was true and someday it will happen. Would be nice see how Valve tries to bypass some copyrights. Instead of Pudge the Butcher we could have a Pudge the Fat Hooker, since he is fat and uses a hook.

It won't happen, don't get your hopes up.

Pudge the Butcher falls under blizz copywrite? What? I thought this was a problem related only to Furion and the like.

Pudge is his name and The butcher is his title, also in dota2.
A lot of heroes still have their titles and names from WC3 dota, it's primarily in their lore text. From Pudge's lore text:
Flocked by carrion birds who need him to cut their meals into beak-sized chunks, Pudge the Butcher hones his skills with blades that grow sharper the longer he uses them.

Blizzard doesn't have copyright on a title like "The butcher" However they do more than likely have the copyrights for stuff like "Leoric the skeleton king" but not "The skeleton king".

I guess this makes sense, Butcher in Diablo was just Butcher, not Pudge The Butcher ^^

DOTA2 literally means 'dota2' but not 'defense of the ancients 2'. iirc the law suit was about whether valve can use 'DOTA2' or not (in which valve has won/came to an agreement with bliz). 'DotA' (defense of the ancients) however is definitely not allowed to be used by anyone except bliz because of the original eula from war3 etc.

i bet 50% of dota players dont even know what dota stands for anyways
also i just got 50% on invoker again finally

Valve owns "Defense of the Ancients" as well, they just decided to drop the abbreviation. And they granted permission to use the mark in things like custom maps since that's where it originated. Blizzard may not use it for commercial purposes.

I argued this to death on playdota.com and dev.dota2.com, and sadly most people just shrug it off and accept the names that are given because that's what people used to call them in DOTA 1. My problem with that is that the majority of the heroes show their descriptive names (e.g. Phantom Assassin, Skeleton King), while the minority of heroes should their actual names (e.g. Pudge, Puck, Slark, Jakiro), which is just stupid because it makes the naming convention look inconsistent and stupid in my eyes.
You can argue that there are certain copyright issues of descriptive names that can't be used (e.g. Wisp, Faerie Dragon, Murloc Nightcrawler), but if that's the case is it so hard to implement alternative names that bypass this (e.g. Light Spirit, Pixie Dragon, Nightcrawler). Or as most people suggested, find a way to put both the actual and descriptive names in the HUDs. Yes obviously space is an issue and it would screw up most or almost all of the custom HUDs that have been made over the last few years, but a start would be adding a new section for the actual name right above where the current name of the hero is, or getting rid of the exp number in the exp bar and putting the descriptive name of the hero there instead
