what weapons do you wizards use? i found out wizards can use any 1 handed weapon to increase the damage, so your not limited to wands.

and you're just skipping all the mobs to get to the bosses? How is that actually playing the game? The bosses are not the difficult part of the game anyway especially for a wizard. With all the survivability and long range stuff i think a wizard is best for the bosses, teleport let's you revive allies very well for example

Keeping the build a secret is retarded anyway as anyone can come up with that build, it was obvious from the start a mass heal build with energy armor 35% would be tried and it actually works quite well. It's just familiar - ancient guardian, energy armor -force armor, diamond skin and the passive galvanizing ward. Rest doesn't even matter so much, frost nova is great to buy time to heal and if you have a slow weapon you can just play without a primary.

As for gear with such a build only dexterity and intelligence are useful as armor doesn''t do much if you rely on force armor anyway. Vitality even get's counterproductive as it makes your healing worse.

Some stuff still kills such a character really fast though which are just the hard damage over time spells you face later on, some poisons or fires you keep standing in. Teleport or diamond skin are quite important to mitigate those probably as your healing won't cut it.

I renew hydra and blizzard and spam electrocute with arc lightning rune. It might not be the most optimal build but its easily viable for inferno. I might try shock pulse with piercing orb rune instead and see how it goes.
How did you get 40k dps? Cause I'm using a 640 dps weapon and a decent off-hand and 3 skills that increase damage(familiar, magic weapon and glass cannon). Are you going all int/other damage items with 0 vitality? I thought about doing that but I'm sorta afraid that they'll nerf energy armor.

Actually, after trying some stuff with Wizard I'm pretty certain its one of the best if not THE best overall build for Wizard without gimmicks like 0 vitality. Blizzard is the only reliable CC wizard has and hydra just synergizes too well with running around and avoiding hits.

I have to agree with the above. I've found that Blizzard/Hydra is pretty good for kiting strats, and certainly it's great for bosskilling. I think throwing in wormhole teleport is worth it for escaping from dangerous packs (vortex jailor arcane anyone?) and sticky boss spots.

Ye i like the wormhole teleport idea but I'm the main dps in our setup so I tried to squeeze as much dps as possible. If I do die it is not too hard to resurrect or tp to my group. I also relied on my monks 2 second invul a lot but they nerfed it to 0.5 seconds because of 4 monk invul abuse.
I do think ray of frost is a lot better against bosses but I try to avoid switching skills to keep 5 stacks of MF on bosses.

I'm just trying that build now (only level 36 though, so without some of the fancy runes) but I've decided to stick with Diamond skin over Familiar. Diamond skin has saved my ass far too many times for me to throw it out for a little additional dps.

edit: On second thought, gonna give it a try with the Familiar for a while, see how much I get hit.

you cant really go all out offense unless you have an extremely tank party that stand in front for you to nuke from behind. Even if thats the case, there are still mobs that only affect range units but melee they deals 0 dmg -_-... Currently im staying away from all the attack buff skill, use venom hydra + blizzard and just run around kiting. Beat pudge in hell with that...

Well, we should really be talking about solo vs group as those are two whole different games. I solo, so Wormhole is really needed.

right now, i have 27k dps with critcal dmg/chance stacking (+no familiar) and i'm not really skimping on vita with 29k hp. i should have much more dps when i have enough money for a decent 1hand.

120k crits with dynamo arcane orbs

Which companion have people been using btw? Until now I've only been using the Templar with his heals, but I've never tried the Scoundrel or Enchantress. Are they good?

hmm seems like the gear gap is huge. I'm 57 and only 9kdps. then again the only thing I've focused on upgrading was weapons

Soloing inferno with 5k HP with force armor and diamond skin. Pretty funny, with it more Hp actually means you can take less dmg as diamond skin absorbs 20k dmg and single hit does <2k. Biggest problem so far was at Butcher when in the end it was impossible to avoid the fires, barely managed to burn it down before shield ended after a ton of tries. But my gear is still quite crappy, 12k dps.
Although how in the hell you get 20k+ dps? I have 732dps weapon with all int gear, not very high ones, but average anyway, and have half of that.
