Oh and then there's the vocal minority who'll buy Intel only because they're "supporting e-sports" ^^

Hopefully e-sports in other parts of the world will get the same attention. they will, once there's more money in it to win. and intel taking a step in that direction is just beautiful long live fucking e-sports man, let's nuke the world with ghosts cloaked by a mothership protected by broodlords.

All the affected boards were recalled, and the revised version is set to be released soon. More specifically, this GSL is called the "second generation Intel Core GSL" (which is a lot shorter in hangul), where "second generation core" just means the i3, i5, and i7. The remainder of the press release doesn't have any new information, except that these guys will be performing at some point during the GSL (thanks Selith). An aside: I have a hunch that Intel is also sponsoring whatever Inc's big announcement is, so essentially everyone should run out and buy an i7 asaply. I already have an i7, so you're welcome for contributing to the GSL sponsorship ![]() On February 21 2011 06:37 Kfcnoob wrote: i tried to buy one of their second generation i7's but they are all on recall. kind of ironic they are sponsoring a tournament with this sort of advertisement when the product isnt even available till as far as april It's not the cores, it's the (primarily) Sandybridge boards which have a design flaw (voltages) which will result in the SATA ports failing prematurely, and only if your board shows "Intel (R) 6 Series". The x58 chipset and below are fine, at least at this point in time ![]()

I remember playing WoW back in Japan a few years ago and my ping would range from a decent 200'ish to upwards of 800 sometimes >< During the laggier times of the days it was pretty intolerable doing arena >< I can't imagine trying to micro with high ping lol Probably was partly because I lived in a dorm though and a lot of people were often DLing stuff etc though

Honestly, an organically grown organization that slowly builds up in viewership and popularity is much more stable than something you throw money at. Big wads of money make for bad decision making, and it'd wind up looking like the superbowl halftime show.
