With how kespa takes around 50% of winnings and salary isn't as much as chain winning GSL's *which he is capable of doing*, you're not thinking about the players, which seems to be the last thing on peoples minds here. You're right, I'm being completely selfish and I don't care. However, BW is the better eSport in my humble opinion and seeing top players leaving (i.e. it fading away) is not a good thing for the entirety of professional gaming. In other words, I do not want to see the best, most entertaining game ever made slip away into the night, even an iota, especially when it still has so much to offer. Who knows, maybe KeSPA will be forced to make better deals with BW players in order to keep the scene alive. Would be nice. I'd also like a pony. SC2 can't compete with BW. BW has heroes and history. However, if you are willing to give SC2 those 5 years, we might just find that SC2 develops its own heroes and history.

Yaya! Jaedong fighting!!!!

I will definitely change to StarCraft II as I feel that StarCraft 2 is having a higher status then StarCraft: Broodwar.
DO NOT WANT
:<

Why don't people want JD to switch to SC2, or any progamer at all? SC2 is THE future, I'd love to see JD switch asap. Now with these new replay features, ingame cam, you can even drool more while watching his replays.. Hoping JD will stay Zerg, he'd probably bring some new creative play to the race.
I simply can't wait, I wish it was tomorrow.

I think Zerg still needs attention before it can provide fertile ground for innovation.
Even Cool in GSL wasn't mindblowing as much as him just doing the same old thing fast enough to stay alive and get to the next stage of the game.

You're in denial. The migration of storied BW players to a game that despite its immaturity is exploding on the esports scene with high prize pools and burgeoning endorsements from major gaming organizations is a great thing for the entirety of professional gaming.... It takes more than the best RTS gameplay ever developed to remain successful in esports for this long.
Increasingly BW will become a niche community within 'the entirety of professional gaming'.

NO NO NO JAEDONG!! You are still at the top of the game! If you leave who will begin to challenge Flash? :O :O :O

For the love of god DON'T SWITCH TO TERRAN JAEDONG!

At this point I'd take anything to get him away from Flash. Tyrant just hasn't been the same since they've been friends imo.
Someone should inform him that his reputation amongst the foreigners is pretty much that he's a B.

Because there is a small but very vocal segment on TL called the BW diehards, they cannot give something new a change, they fear change and thus must slam and try to damage control anything.
It is laughable that some of them even try to post reasons why things wont happen despite the fact THAT THE GODDAMN PLAYER SAID THEY WOULD! like "well he has a contract for 2 years, then he is off to the military, then he will be in a coma for 9 years, then he will travel around the world, so basically Jaedong will play SC2 in 2024 lol"
It is wishfull thinking on their part, and a attempt to keep the past alive

I agree with you lol what is he talking about? The games were awesome!

You guys really need to drop the whole us versus them shit. It gets old. There are plenty of hardcore BW fans. It's a SC forum for a reason. Use some simple logic. I for one played both for quite a while. As it stands I enjoy watching Brood War over SC2 because it is more polished and entertaining.
Keeping the past alive? It's happening as we speak. As for the future. Ask me a few years from now and I'll get back to you. As for now, we're living in the now (kind of redundant) and that's the only thing that matters to me.

I don't get why some people think you can only like one or the other. I've been a fan of pro BW for five years and I really enjoyed the final. It's nowhere near as honed as BW yet, of course, but there was some amazing displays of skill there, particularly by Cool.

Yup I agree with you. I love watching both as I think both are very entertaining. Sure BW has some more epic games but its also been played a lot longer then sc2 and yet sc2 still has some crazy awesome games :D.

I feel like growing up as a kid, I'd always see movies, read books and hear about in class some conflict where there was always the bright new dreamers trying out something at the time radically different but the old guard traditionalists refused to let go and fought tooth and nail to protect something which, in 20-20 hindsight, seemed pretty stupid. I always promised myself I'd never be one of those conservative cling-to-what-you-know types, but now for the first time that's really being tested. I grew up loving SC1, and following the pro-scene was the best, but now it seems that chapter is coming to an end. So, through the pangs of nostalgia and sadness at seeing something that I got so much enjoyment from come to a close, bring me that horizon. I'm glad to see Jaedong stepping into the brave new world of SC2 and can't wait to see what he's capable of there.

It might be a bleak future, with stupid micro, even more stupid gimmicks and graphics that make it hard to understand what's even going on. It's a future where area denial has become a battle of high ground vs. no high ground, not spider mines, lurkers, reavers or split strike forces. Massive blobs roam the battlefield, and harassment becomes harder to do since less bases are needed to get a critical mass of units out. Whereas WCG, the least important major BW tourney, with only 3 koreans, a "stale game", produced epic matches where a single scarab shot was way more exciting than I envision SC2 to go at this moment. If you don't believe me, watch JD vs. Flash game 2, or Kal vs. Flash game 1. I can't imagine this sort of greatness in any other game. And yet I see it ripped away for promises of an uncertain future. Sure, people like SC2, and I'm sure they have their reasons. But there isn't a shortage of players in the SC2 scene, and I don't understand why people feel the need for BW to be ripped apart. It would be a shame if SC2 crashes and burns, and there is no BW to pick up the pieces and give E-sports another try with a new game.
