clutch = missing three out of four critical free throws in the fourth quarter?

he played incredible but come on, you gotta hit those

Its rediculous to blame lebron for the loss. Are you kidding me?

Who cares. Let LeBron have 40+ every night and "wear himself out" while they shut down everyone else.

who is blaming him for the loss can you read?

he had an amazing game, his team lost ...

the result is all that matters, basically all this means is he wasted 50 points and a HUGE effort.

never have i seen a more disgraceful flop than varejao lying on the floor in the middle of the play after a screen and pretending like he was going to vomit, then they show the slo-mo replay and its so blatantly obvious that he was acting that they don't even bother to comment lol

great game, couldn't ask for anything more, except maybe lebron chalking up 50pts with the game winner lol. if that last shot had gone in it'd be pretty crazy too

uhm nobody is blaming lebron for the loss, are you crazy? he did everything he could besides hitting those free throws down the stretch. (they were really important if i remember correctly) the guy is a monster but orlando also has other favorable matchups. both conference finals are gonna be intense.

I don't know, man. I knew it would get ugly when he turned into a black hole in the 3rd. Yeah, it's great that he makes those shots but he shouldn't have been taking them in the first place. He didn't even do any work to get those shots, he just held the ball and threw up a jumper than had a 50% chance of going in.

There was almost no ball movement until the final minutes of the fourth, but fortunately Lebron was able to hit most of them. However, there were so many times when drove in and dish out to West or Williams but went in the lane and missed his free throws. IMO I think he should change his free throw shooting mechanics, him putting both feet next to each other is not very efficient.

Lebron needed support that game. It's already known he's a great team leader and is good at assists. So he really needed some other players to provide some energy on the floor. He was doing it all and all he needed was a solid consistent contribution from one other player but they didn't deliver or play their roles effectively. (This isn't entirely true, Dwight didn't have 20424 rebounds this game so that's a +).

Lebron made some questionable plays but his FG % was still 66%. which is more than you can ask for from any player to make in a conference finals playoff game. His FT% has always been the weakest part of his game (and it's not like he's Shaq at them). So yes if he works on his technique and can hit from the line with deadly accuracy he will truly be the best all around player in the game. (Which most give him credit for already considering his insane stats and play this playoffs).

You kind of want to pin it on him when he makes bad plays but for instance at the end of the third, you saw him look left and look right, and nobody was moving to produce something. They were looking to him to do something. Like he can move their damn feet for them and make them hustle. They shouldn't just expect him to shoot. And if they do set up a screen or something. The camera zoomed in and he was looking for movement then looked up at the rim saying, 'well fuck it, time to shoot'.

all of clevland was "lebron watching" ...

funny how when that happens to Kobe he's selfish, but when it happens to Clevland LeBron isn't getting any help

how the fuck could "LeBron is tired" even come into play? how is a 24 year old who is supposed to be god's gift to basketball complain about being tired? he didn't even play the whole game and has had 8 days of rest.

when has ANY announcer EVER said "oh man Kobe's tired they need a timeout to rest him" ... O_O;;

2008 finals, during the 4th quarter I remember them saying Kobe looks exhausted.

Just because the average person can play two hours of pickup doesn't mean that elite basketball players should be able to play 48 minutes of high level basketball.

When LeBron had that great, great game in Game 5 and he said how tired he was. After that game that I had, it was a month before I could walk straight. I was so tired. I don’t know if you’ve ever been that tired where you feel like your bones are aching, but when he said he was really tired, I knew exactly what he was talking about.

From Bill Russell's 2007 playoff blog.
http://www.nba.com/playoffs2007/news/billrussell_postseason.html

Along with
Experience in the playoffs is overemphasized. The only experience that really counts is the experience you’ve had against the team that you’re going to be playing. By the time you get to The Finals, you’ve gotten through three series. You’re an experienced playoff player. To say that one team has more experience, that is overrated.

and
As A Team, You Play The Way You Play
People like to point out all kinds of reasons for why teams lose. Some will say, well, they missed too many free throws. That is overblown. You play the way you play. If you’re a bad free throw shooting team and still win, then you can win with missed free throws. Nobody is going to play a perfect game. There are going to be things that you don’t do well, so you’ve got to win in spite of those. Like on the boards, you can get outrebounded and still win because it’s only one part of the game.

i don't think lebron is really to blame, williams and west both missed open shots, ilgauskas and szzczszerbiak too, ilgauskas especially has really been shooting well this year which is super key to draw the center away. that really hurt the cavs since it allowed orlando to protect the basket better. west and williams seemed really hesitant to drive too (understandably for short guys with HGH himself protecting the rim). it's pretty obvious to everyone that cavs play their best team ball when there is space to cut and they play their worst when teams pack the paint and let lebron shoot jumpers. his teammates have to shoot well to give lebron room to operate

i don't know if cleveland are too dejected after this loss though, they have room to improve and orlando did have a hot shooting game. rashard lewis had no problems getting open on varejao. i think if the cleveland shooters present enough of a threat it mightn't be a bad idea to go with lebron on lewis at the 4, i'd like to see how that works

No, Kobe often has the same problem where his team mates don't provide the energy.
However, we usually don't see this from Lebron. When he took a lot of those shots, he didn't have guys wide open saying, 'GIMME DA BALL'. They sat around and didn't run around the floor trying to create a play.

testie let me just say posting a video titled "kobe:why we hate" that has just one play is not gonna help you make your point lol. and how old is that video? god, pick a half-decent example man. he is obviously a complete different player now than when he had no supporting cast

i think the reason you see kobe getting heat for the kind of play lebron showed today is that the lakers have shown throughout the year that they are more dangerous when gasol/odom are rolling , ball movement is super crucial to them. but with cleveland everything starts and ends with lebron anyway, so the way the defense plays lebron basically dictates the entire gameplan. lebron doesn't really have a choice but to take open midrange shots when they're covering everyone else and packing the paint, whereas lakers have the option of running their offense through gasol and having kobe cut through and receive the ball in a better position than an iso on the perimeter or pullup off a screen. or even going to bynum (yeah i know "lol"). so you get a situation where kobe gets called selfish for pulling up for midrange shots to try to carry his team despite other viable options being available, whereas lebron is considered doing what he has to, cos he doesn't really have other options to get the team going

and it's hard to criticize a guy after he puts up 49pts and goes 20/30. apart from the occasional retarded heatcheck you can generally rely on lebron not to force it too much, hes always been a willing passer and the shots he took today were mostly open. whereas you can't deny kobe can get tunnel vision and take some tough shots when he doesn't need to
