no they didn't - they honestly played like shit this game. I meant in the playoffs in general, battling through injuries/adversity.This game, not so much.

He's gotten older and has lost some of his athleticism in the past few years, but he's still got plenty and has refined his skill set to offset it. Talking about Kobe's size doesn't prove anything, as he's strong, tall, and quick enough to keep up with any player at his position (and many out of it) while proving to be the toughest player to guard one on one in the league. If you've watched him play, he is plenty strong, able to post up any SG in the league, and even many SFs. He's one of the best non-big players in the league at rebounding off of a FT miss, which speaks to both his strength and leaping ability. If you've seen him chase down players on fast breaks, you can see he paces most guards in the league and is able to time his jump perfectly to meet most players in the air. It's Kobe's incomparable skill set that makes him heads and shoulders above the rest, but there's no way he can do what he does on the court without elite athleticism as well. He may not be the best athlete in the league, but he's up there. you mention his posting up skill (which is considerable), that isn't about him being stronger, someone as skilled as kobe you just can't really push them at all cos he can spin both ways, drop step, fake the turnaround etc etc etc so you basically have to wait for the double and just try to not to let him get a step and force him to shoot a turnaround if he's going to shoot, so you're forced to give ground. his strength in that area, when he gets to show it off, is his ridiculous repertoire, not his physical advantage. and it's the same with his perimeter game, his versatility forces defenders to think of too many options so they give ground to whatever maneuver he ends up doing (which is too often a bailout 20ft jumpshot these days), kobe has never had the turn-it-on explosiveness of guards approaching his skill level like tmac or carter or even 2nd tier guys like jason richardson, and is probably similar to someone like ray allen, non of whom do a great job of gaurding him. guys like bruce bowen or shane battier do a good job on kobe without being that athletically gifted themselves because they play more cerebrally. if denver think dahntay jones can gaurd him they'll probably try to post him up, i've never really seen kobe consistently post up too many guys who he wasn't at least equal in physical attributes though, it's usually either a predesigned iso to take advantage of a mismatch, or on a switch with the pg the ft rebounding, that's like 90% positioning and reading the bounce off the rim like all rebounding, yeah you need to be able to jump to get it and hold position but no one is arguing that kobe is a cripple. the running the floor thing: it's a lot easier to chase people down because you don't have the ball and can time your jump perfectly since you can see the other guy, who has to deal with dribbling, timing his steps so he doesn't travel, worrying about the guy behind him etc. unlike lebron who's huge speed advantage in the open floor is blatantly obvious both with and without the ball
