Are you going to tell me Columbia's liberal political science faculty is more intelligent than Stanford's conservative faculty? Chicago's Friedmanites are less intelligent than the SSE? It's a bullshit oversimplification to support your cause and one that both sides try to manipulate, but it's an all-around fallacious argument.

The event, at the Ritz-Carlton in California's Half Moon Bay, aims to ``motivate and educate'' about 150 independent agents who sell AIG coverage to high-end clients, said spokesman Nicholas Ashooh. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino today called ``despicable'' expenses from the first gathering, a weeklong conference last month at the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach. Those costs included $23,000 for spa services, according to Representative Henry Waxman, chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. AIG considered buying advertisements to explain its position, only to be told by public relations consultant George Sard that it would be ``a really bad idea.'' ------- wow

You cannot argue that the US has worse healthcare outcomes than Scandinavian countries simply because the US is bigger. You argued that because people's heath outcomes is a distribution from good to bad, that the larger group would suffer. That is just not good statistics. Increasing the sampling size does not bias the result or change the mean values. It affects the variance only (actually lowers it). There are valid reasons that comparing our health to Scandinavian countries is not a fair comparison, but sample size is not one of them. Demographics, cultural, and ethnic differences are valid points.

RealClearPolitics in their tracking of state polls for the first time have shown Obama with over 270 votes (the required number to win) without even counting the toss-up states. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/ Unless something major changes, this looks like its about over.

Well, if you look at the amount that California pays to the federal government and the amount it receives, the deficit is more than enough to balance the California budget. So, financially, California would definitely be better off alone. On other fronts, it's kind of a matter of opinion. ![]() http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/sr139.pdf

(which still wouldn't be that effective, i mean those wright clips are GOLD)

I will mention that "dirty tactics" like labeling Obama a "terrorist" are only effective in the long run. They take time to "cling" and gain traction. This happens because criticisms only work when there's a ring of truth, the candidates have to have a reputation for similar flaws. I don't think that's been established with Obama very well. Now you could argue this kinda rhetoric has been around throughout the campaign, but only recently has McCain really been pushing these ideas aggressively (with the exception of Ayers). ultimately, mccain's inability to stick to a consistent message, as opposed to Obama's campaign which from day one has labeled mccain as a typical republican, just like bush, and weak on the economy, is what is costing McCain this election. In other words, Obama has successfully cast McCain into the Republican stereotype, whereas McCain is running around like a chicken with its head cut off throwing whatever nonsense accusations it can muster. None of these accusations are sticking because none of it is a part of a consistent message.
