If this thread turns into a USPMT 2.0, we will not hesitate to shut it down. Do not even bother posting if all you're going to do is shit on the Democratic candidates while adding nothing of value.
Rules: - Don't post meaningless one-liners. - Don't turn this into a X doesn't stand a chance against Trump debate. - Sources MUST have a supporting comment that summarizes the source beforehand. - Do NOT turn this thread into a Republicans vs. Democrats shit-storm.
This thread will be heavily moderated. Expect the same kind of strictness as the USPMT. |

I guess this makes sense for people who think that excuses Republicans supporting Trump.

If Plansix hadn't posted here Id be 100% in the not voting in the general election camp if Biden is the nominee. Instead I'm incredibly torn.
I can't stand the idea of rewarding pushing these old moderate boomers, but I also don't want to fuck over Plansix's wife's healthcare.
Fuck.

I see people as having a moral obligation to participate, whoever they vote for, even if it means writing in. If Trump voters felt like they were preventing something worse, I suppose at least their heart was maybe but probably not in the right place.

Either way you'd be voting to prevent millions from having healthcare. All of Joe's supporters are.

I'll probably be rooting for the coronavirus at this point

It feels like voting for Biden is voting for Ronald Reagan vs Donald Trump...
I hate everything about that.

At some point that's just not how it works. The American electoral system is a "better of two evils" type of system.
The time to vote ideologically is here and now. It's what we're doing. In the general election, its the height of privilege and arrogance to refuse to vote or to vote for a useless 3rd party candidate so that you can feel smug by staying ideologically "pure". In reality, people's lives would be measurably better by electing Biden over Trump, even if they would be even better if we elected Sanders.

Biden is a terrible excuse for a progressive, but he's definitely not anywhere near Reagan conservative.

It's not about idealogical purity it's about making a point that the DNC can't just push whatever fucking old moderate Alzheimer having old white candidate and choose the president almost on their own.
The system is a race to the bottom and at some point we have to deal with not just hitting rock bottom.

The DNC didn't push whoever they wanted. Sure, they did the whole endorsement/persuasion game, but ultimately people are voting.
If the primary continues as predicted, the people in our coalition out-voted us. This is how democracy works.

Biden is better than Trump in 2020, Biden is a disaster for the left in 2024. Vote whoever you want. It's gonna be atrocious either way, but Trump most likely wins it so we don't have to figure out which is worse.

With countless people waiting hours to vote, an Iowa contest that was never even called, and polling places closed suddenly the day of voting, the audacity it takes to say things like "this is how democracy works" is galling.

I'm of the opinion that Buttigieg and Klobuchar dropped to help Biden at The Party's behest. Not like they don't have a track record of trying to railroad candidates, and I don't see why they won't put their fingers on the scales if they feel like they have to to protect their pocketbooks.
Maybe you have more faith in American politics but at this point I see a pack of rich scumbags on both sides and can't begin to trust either side to deal fairly with much of anything.

JimmiC has been calling your ass out left and right and he's been 100% right every time. You try to predict horrible mass conspiracies against Bernie every voting day and are consistently proven wrong. You then continue to do the same thing, taking no responsibility for your past incorrect predictions.
You have no credibility left. Bernie is a candidate with a lot of flaws and instead of trying to do any self-reflection on the progressive movement you just make excuses.
And you want to say I have audacity? You're a fucking joke GH and you have been for almost 4 years. You are a complete coward and refuse to take any responsibility for your opinions and your failures related to them.

Reporting is that Obama let people know to back Joe, that's how you got people that started their campaign on how Biden couldn't be the nominee and ended up endorsing him and back slapping after his first win.
They said the signal has been sent in the past 36 hours that he sees Biden as the candidate to back, and they don’t need Obama to say it publicly or privately.
One Democratic aide said on Monday that “pressure is mounting” on Mike Bloomberg from the moderate wing of the Democratic Party, who want him to stand down from competing in Super Tuesday contests. This person described the Bloomberg campaign as fielding a lot of “incoming” from Democrats.
Another Democrat said donors have been waiting on the sidelines for either Biden or Bloomberg to become the clear alternative to Sanders, and the emerging view is that has happened in the past two days.

@ Stratos, lmao.

I should also mention that a big part of my Reagan - Biden comparison is Bidens failing mental acuity.
And to borrow a quote about what pisses me off about these milquetoast moderate candidates from a NC primary voter on the subject of Biden, "what does he even stand for? Zero." from NPRs primary coverage while I'm dicking around in my car.
These guys have no beliefs or values that I can see. What does a Biden presidency look like? Cowtowing to Republicans and disenfranchising young people who don't give two shits about the next old white douche to sit in a round room.
Hillary had the novelty of the First Woman President thing and that still wasn't enough to get people to care, what does Biden have?
|
what does Biden have?
Ability to restore normality?
|
American normalcy is death by lack of healthcare, suffocating student loan debt, ridiculous housing costs, and our standard for PRESIDENT OF THE FUCKING UNITED STATES being "at least he can sometimes form complete sentences."
So fuck normalcy, I want BETTER for the country.

Some good news out of Texas so far so I'm not endorsing Covid-19 yet

California, Colorado and Texas should bode well for Bernie at least.
