At exalted each faction had one epic but you could farm that rep in normals too iirc. You needed revered (and later just honored) to enter heroics in the first place. Those epics also weren't that amazing, t4 raid gear was better:

MGT even in normal mode (nevermind heroics) wasnt comparable to modern day 5man stuff, and to be fair it was a good catchup mechanics for people that didnt have the time to climb through 2 tiers of content to enter in Black Temple. It wasn't exactly Sunwell quality loot, like the new mythic dungeon rewards appear to be.

I mean, is it really important that you can get slightly better gear than mythic raiding 5 months into the last patch of the expansion? If this was available from the start of 6.2 or if there was gonna be another tier I'd see your point but at this point it's just eh

Less than halfway into the tier it's inappropriate IMO.
Better gear than heroic? Maybe. Better weapons/trinkets than mythic? That's way different

You don't "have" to, it's just beneficial to go and kill 30 bosses on LFR a few times each. That infuriates me as well but it will be irrelevant in a few weeks while the 5-man loot will be very relevant for about 7 months more

Honestly, I quit shortly after we started mythic BRF (I quit for a month to study for and take exams and predictably lost my raid spot), so I'm so incredibly far behind there's really no point in coming back until Legion, despite the fact I kind of want to timewalk some of my old favorite dungeons.
I just hope they add Shadow Labs at some point because that was my all-time favorite 5 man despite the legion of trash.

I think it is quite easy to catch up. Even more so with the changes coming with the next patch that we are discussing atm.

Yeah, but what the fuck do I catch up to? A dungeon most people have cleared on Heroic and those who will clear it on Mythic likely have already and no significant patches until Legion anyway.

You are correct; but if you skip LFR you'll take maybe 3-4 weeks instead of 2 to optimize all of your gear. It's just a matter of time. You'll also get the very important stuff like weapon on the first week anyway.
If you skip farming the 5-mans, you'll never have the BiS trinkets

My server has 2-3 guilds at 13/13M but 8 guilds at 10+ and 21 guilds past gorefiend. Many of them will clear 13, especially with the huge nerf from +10 ilvls and the additional time.
I simmed my stuff with +10ilvls and zero additional considerations and it's already at least an ~11% damage increase

TBH, there was no skill to presence dancing, and 99.9% of the time it was wrong to do it. Not sad to see them gone. The rune system change is kind of weird, but let's be honest: they did it last expansion by making everything Death Runes anyway.

Death Knights were never difficult to play anyway.
They're easy to play on an alright-ish level.
When people say "easy to play" etc, i'm often confused - the main thing that i look at for that is how difficult it is to excell with that class in the highest difficulty PVE and right now, death knights are kinda shit most of the time. Their damage is low and it's also way harder to do 100% of their damage (instead of ~wasting ~5-10% of it) when compared to other classes due to their long and confusing priority system. They're a low mobility melee class, on top of that.
They're also obviously not popularly represented in Mythic - there are 77k MM hunter parses in the last 2 weeks on warcraftlogs, yet only 22k unholy DK and 12k frost DK.

Hunters are scumbags there's a billion of them and they can move while dpsing from range yet all those fuckers stand in fire and die constantly

There are MANY players that i know in top 1% guilds who take a lot of unneccesary avoidable damage, don't target switch well, use the wrong trinkets etc; really if you get the fundementals right you can go anywhere. If everyone gets them right, you're probably 13/13m so it's wrong to expect it of weaker guilds and players

dks are pretty desirable? grap this grap that, thats all u need to do, had someone use his 665ilvl dk for mannoroth mythic progression just because we needed the grip
oh and good players are not retarded, people who are good are most often just good, if u do shit on a daily bases u r not considered good - most guilds with "good progression" who have bad players compensate with time investment.

They're used for grips on some bosses but as a dps class, not so much

"good" players are still bad in a lot of ways but bad players are bad in 1000x more ways
