Wtih all this going on less informed people probably think that ukraine has 30-50% russians when its actually 17% ethnic russians amongst a population of 42 million.

Pure speculation here. Probably a brief but unpleasant war and more pussy-footing by the West. I actually don't think that much will change compared to what has happened already with respect to Crimea. The international order will be less stable, Europe will re-militarize, sustainable energy and energy diversification will become very popular concepts.

Joe Biden and PM of Poland Donald Tusk were about to speak after talks in Warsaw, now the press conference is delayed. I can only imagine how much they have to scramble right now to draft a response because there will be a question about it all.
I know it's not Obama but still, Vice President of USA.

Cause situation would become even more unstable.

In many ways it will be the only way to stabilize the situation, there are obviously many people in your part of Ukraine that want to protect themselves from the people that came to power in Kiev. Many Ukrainians are coming to Serbia seeking asylum, people from Kiev and western Ukraine afraid to speak Russian, or Ukrainian speakers terrified of marauding bands of right-wing extremists interrogating and beating up people on the streets, the total absence of law and order on the streets and the threat of war. A similar amount of people fleeing the Donbas region and Crimea because of similar fears of persecution and war.

Here is the source (though in Serbian): http://www.novosti.rs/vesti/naslovna/drustvo/aktuelno.290.html:483123-Ukrajinci-traze-azil-u-Srbiji

All of this because Ukraine was not a federated country and allowed the crazies of euromaidan to plunge the country into anarchy.

Edit: the one thing i'm interested to see, is what "the west" will do if putin goes further. There's so many russians still to be freed in the ukraine and other countries.

Literally the first sentence of the article that you linked says, they university officially temporarily suspended the courses until march 19th. I have no idea where you got the idea, that they are closing Ukraine language department.

"Incidentally, the total population of the Crimean Peninsula today is 2.2 million people, of whom almost 1.5 million are Russians, 350,000 are Ukrainians who predominantly consider Russian their native language, and about 290,000-300,000 are Crimean Tatars, who, as the referendum has shown, also lean towards Russia."

http://eng.kremlin.ru/news/6889 This is Putins words.

That bit about crimean tatars is just so out of touch with reality.

The general popultion was in favor of being anexed anyway.

Also some people who were against anexation are being evicted from their homes.

I am sure that 80% if not more of Crimea citizens would like to join Russia. Above that, the same thing can be said for all eastern cities of Ukraine, such as Donetsk or Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and many others.
Rigged or not this referendum does not prove anything. Crimea has always been a Russian territory with people who think of themselves as Russians and speak Russian, what other facts do you need?

I am not saying that it was absolutely right to "annex" this territory now, but I can't disagree with the fact that russian people live there.

You're simply wrong. Someone linked a study earlier that before the Maidan only 40% in Crimea even identified as Russian. Why would the other 60% want to join Russia if they don't see themself as one.

Ok, read studies.
I talk to ppl who actually live in Ukraine. Moreover I live in Belarus and frequently visit Ukraine, so I am somewhat aware of the situation. Who do you think I believe?

Positive confirmation bias. All you can prove is that there are people that strongly support Russia in the Ukraine. But you can find the same in Lithuania, but you wouldn't say the two countries are similar in this respect.

Yes, Lithuania also has that soviet echo or Russian empathy, but to what extend?
If 85% of Lithuanians would start speaking only Russian and call themselves russians would you still call them Lithuanians?

Some people were predicting Crimea to be a gray zone. It turns out they'll still join Russia, so I guess you're wrong now. Pay back those 1000 esports dollars. :D

If this showed anything, it showed that rules, regulations, laws, agreements and other such bullshits now and ever were only second to very simple 3 word sentence: Might makes right.

EDIT: This just shows that countries like NK, Iran and Izrael are doing it right when ignoring all those second rate things..

I don't know, facts seem more important to me.

If that is so, do come to Ukraine and ask ppl in the streets. I think that would get you as closest to the facts as possible than any study you may read.
